It's obviously good to recycle, but a lot of conservatives think it's part of the liberal agenda, and if they recycle they'll become hippies.

My dad is pretty conservative and he just started recycling a couple years ago because he finally realized how stupid it is to make garbage a political issue. He doesn't even have recycling pick-up, he loads up the truck and takes everything to a drop off site.

So, how many here recycle, and how many of you are too lazy to care?

We have a recycling pickup that I utilize. It's probably a net loss on the environment, but it makes people feel better. And it's better than illegal dumping.

I used to when I lived in Starkville. It isn't very accessible where I live now.

its funny. I probably recycle much more than my liberal friends do. I have newspapers stacked high and aluminum cans all over the garage. I did break down and clean my car out and take the recycle bin to the street.

With that said, I wish there were more options for things like motor oil and paint.

That's a pretty broad and vague statement.

I found the one issue you and I will agree on. While I do think that some of the global warming discussion from both sides is BS, it's stupid to not want to be good stewards of the earth and not worth politicizing.

We recycle pretty heavily. It became a bit easier when the city introduced specific bins for it and put it at every house. My only complaint was they went from 3 times a week pickup of trash to once a week trash and once a week recycling. We have a shared trash bin and if one of us goes crazy one week, it screws up the other parties.

But not nearly as fun

Never thought about it; has any studies been done on it?

i do, we have separate bins here for it- they pick it up once every two weeks.

i will say that i'm in the process of moving and cleaned out the cabinets in my bathroom and threw away probably 50 plastic bottles of half used lotions, hair products, etc. this past week and didn't even care, no way i was going to bother emptying that much stuff out.

I recycle, but here (Evans,Ga) you either have to pay a extra fee or take it to recycle center yourself. The extra fee seems stupid to me.

In San diego, it was easy. Recycle in blue bin. Garbage in black can.

I do the latter about twice a month.

I'm conservative and yes, our family actively participates in our area recycling effort and yes, you are easily one of the worst liberal hacks on TD.

I've recycled for as long as I can remember. My city has trash and co-mingled recycling pickup included in our sanitation bill.

Take glass for an example. Recycled glass is sometimes more expensive to turn into reusable glass than raw materials. So a lot of times, cities will take glass for "recycling" and then end up shipping the glass to a landfill separately. That's an obvious waste of time, resources and money so people can feel better about recycling.

Got it.....so I would saving the city money by throwing any glass product in the nearest river?
