The FDA is about profit, not health. Most regulations are there to hamper the uprise of a small farmer doing it the right way.

Well then. I reckon we should just do away with the FDA and do like third world countries and just have street vendors on every corner selling whatever they wish.

Beans baby! just think how we could solve the gas problem at the same time.

I know you were saying this in jest...

But really, there is a plant that supplies high amounts of protein and can be used as fuel. (First Model T was built out of the fibers of this plant, which are stronger than steel, and run on the oil of this plant).

Childish response.

Now if you want to talk about the level of hormones in some of what we eat then I could understand.

This!

The other issue is kids wont eat fresh anymore. Talked with a guy yesterday who grabbed a chicken fresh from his farm and then the kids would not eat it.

Same with beef for some. Raised our own cows growing up. The taste of fresh beef vs store bought is huge.

Half in jest. We need to make more fuel from poop. Cow chips were the fuel of the early pioneer. Now we just waste shite.

The FDA has proven time and again that they are more interested in creating profit than health. There was nothing conspiratory about the comment.

Bigger issue with kids is wild game vs store bought. I love wild turkey and the real flavor and will not eat store turkey. Kids today are just the opposite.

You have to have a certain acreage and etc depending in what you're raising. I believe it's at least 1 acre for livestock. I was generalizing when I said coop. You can have one but then it becomes a moot point when your crowing roosters violate the city's noise ordinance (this is how a neighbor got a neighbor's coop removed).

And that's in suburbia. We're not counting the countless people who live downtown where there isn't even a yard for them to begin with.

You can do hens on any size lot but it is roosters that are not allowed. That is how they got in trouble. I do not think a cock is allowed on anything but zoned agricultural land.

Give me a corn finished ribeye over one from a free ranging cow killed straight off a cow/calf operation any day.

If you really understand it you'd have no problem eating big US company chicken rather than a chicken that has been eating bugs and actual shite free ranging.

Chickens eat a lot of their own shite. They shite in any water source they can find. It is gross.

I've seen some pretty awful shite in beef and poultry operations/slaughter houses. I got to go through with some public health veterinarians - some of it was OK but other things I saw were appalling.

I service poultry processing plants in Missouri and Arkansas. I'm in these plants on a weekly basis.

That plant in China looked top of the line.

Some of these major processors won't allow you near their grow houses and have strict rules for those who work there. You could expose a house to a disease and kill the whole flock.

Sometimes getting into hatcheries is even tougher.

USDA has inspectors on every line testing and watching everything.

Yes nutri-cuticle companies are involved in poultry processing but they're not selling steroids.

Biggest lie out there is that chickens are given steroid shots.

Mo, you need to visit SW Missouri and find out more about the industry.

Are chickens going extinct?

And sustainability is just a buzzword.

Don't have to have shots to receive hormones and the like.
