I'm not sure if those things would actually be worth a damn if you were hiking. That toe loop might create a lot of chafing. I've worn my keen sandals for some hiking in Colorado. But those fit like a glove.

Teva mush flip flops for comfort in the summer
Chacos for the lake or slow rivers.
Keens for the whitewater and rock bottom faster water canoe rivers.
As fashion they are all ugly but have great function for the water.

They are ubiquitous in Knoxville and are part of the frat uniform here.

I have a pair and love them. I hate flip flops because my high arches just don't agree with them and they kill my feet.
I hiked in them once though, and never again. I need something with a little more support than they offer. Great for canoeing though.

Ugly and oddly heavy.
Pretty common everywhere, not just Shitkansas.

I h ave a pair of their flip-flops. Great quality. Don't like the regular ones though, not my thing.

Nope. Those are fricking hideous.

Yes. Not for every occasion, but they're useful and comfortable for fishing, other water activities, and other things where style doesn't matter.
Most sandals/water shoes aren't stylish, and the ones that are usually suck.

Yes. Super comfortable. They're my go to casual footwear during the summer. They're better than wearing thong sandals. They are a little heavy though, which is weird.

Chacos: The essential UA shoe (article from 2011)
quote:
Chacos have become a large part of the Fayetteville and UA campus culture. While wearing the colorful straps and thick rubber soles may be second nature to the students and natives of Fayetteville, they represent quite the culture shock for students from other parts of the country.

Lauren Delph, a sophomore, was introduced to Chacos before she attended the UA. She bought her first pair during her senior year of high school.
“I was about to go to Brazil for a mission trip and they are the best shoes to have there,” Delph said. “They are comfy and great for different terrains.”
She was not surprised to find that Chacos are an everyday essential for students on the Fayetteville campus, especially with the hilly terrain.
“Once you wear them, you realize that they are functional for everything. They are perfect for walking to class and then for hiking. They are extremely multifunctional,” Delph said.
They're perfect hiking and river shoes. On the river, flip flops are litter.

Since I've been in Arkansas I've seen an unsettling amount of Chacos but surprisingly no confederate flags

I disagree. They tear my feet up when I go hiking but I love them on the river or any body of water. My Chaco flip flops are good too though.

That's why I got mine. For whitewater in North Carolina.

So, TEVA is back, with a different name.
Welcome to 1994.
Actually I bought Chaco's in 1997, 18 years ago.
They were an alternative to Teva, actually good for hiking etc. As stated, the ones with the toe hole are great for hiking.

I would wear them for casual hiking and day outdoor wear, but there's no way I'd wear them hiking the way I hike. There's no protection. They do look comfy, though.

Wife bought me a pair of the flip flops, but they are too narrow for my foot and I gave them away. Kinda hard to find comfortable sandals when you wear a 13 EE.

Mountain rivers is what they're best for, and walking around a hilly town. That's why they're so popular in Fayetteville.
Serious, rugged hiking, I'd prefer more protection as well. Hiking the parks in and around Fayetteville, they're perfect.
