I'm not seeing how the lights going out will change much at all....

Let me give you a "for instance"...

After Hurricane Katrina a whole bunch of urban southerners (Greater New Orleans to be specific) went to the stomping grounds of some rural East Texans (who aren't technically southerners perhaps, but essentially are, if'n you've ever been to EAST Texas). When a short time later Hurricane Rita put the lights out in East Texas things got pretty damned close to Civil War around there. Those armed rural southerners and those street-hardened urban southerners were not going to fare too well together had the air conditioning stayed down too much longer.

For the record: I'm not worried about a EMP FF this Summer, to begin with.

For the record, again: The rural melanin-enhanced East Texans were as stressed and vocal as was anyone else re the urbanites and their "ungentlemanly" ways.

But I've been involved in blowing stuff up for all of my career

I got ahold of 5 lbs of tannerite the other day. I put it on top of 10lbs worth of exploding shooting targets and covered it all in diesel.

A few whiskey drinks later, we created an explosion that would have destroyed a 3 bedroom home. It even made mushroom cloud. It was awesome

If the initial impact compromised the structural integrity of the steel support columns, then they could easily collapse with relatively lower heat and stress. I have yet to see a credible source that stated the support columns melted, just that their integrity was compromised which, in turn, led to the collapse of the towers.

The intial impact came from the basement, before any plane ever hit, according to those inside the building.

1. The steel wasn't molten
2. The temperature of the combustibles in the tower combined with the jet fuel was hot enough to weaken the steel to the point that it failed, bending and twisting into shapes that may resemble molten metal. Also, at those temperatures, the metal will appear red hot, much like molten metal, but while it may be red, flowish, and ductile, it is not considered molten at those temperatures.

In World War Two a fully loaded bomber plane crashed into the Empire State Building and yet still it stands but yea, jet fuel can totally melt steel

Those are two very different buildings with entirely different engineering structures. The WTC Towers utilized curtain wall construction. The exterior of the building does not bare the load, instead the load is carried by interior columns, several of which were severed by the careening airliner while many others were weakened to the point of failure by the heat from the burning jet fuel and office combustibles (paper, wall coverings, furniture, ink, ect)

In the case of the WW2 bomber, The Empire State Building utilizes a structural system where both interior columns and the building's exterior are load bearing. This makes the structure far less susceptible to collapse in the event that an airplane crashes into it as seen during the 1940's. It simply has far more redundancy in its load bearing structure. Another happy accident was that not all of the bomber's ordinance exploded after impact, saving the building from further damage.

I don't see you doing anything to improve it. Sorry for exposing y'all to the truth.

This reminds me of my trip to west Africa. The following are quotes from talking with the locals.

"America made up AIDS it doesn't exist" "That's why it only killed the Gay men in America" "AIDS only effects Americans" "The medicines that the Americans bring only makes us sick. They want to steal our land after we die!"

Agree with everything else you said but to clarify this statement - it wasn't armed at all. It was a VIP transport version.

Also even though I know this was a troll thread this is worth noting:

B-25 Mitchell
Length: 54 feet
Wingspan: 67 feet
Empty weight: 19,500 lbs
Internal fuel capacity: 975 gallons (about 9,300 lbs)

Boeing 767-200
Length: 159 feet
Wingspan: 156 feet
Empty weight: 180,000 lbs
Internal fuel capacity: 17,000 gallons (102,000 pounds)

So yeah, danged near an exact comparison.

At first, I thought "no way" but then I took the average stupidity of an American who went through 12 years of public schooling, and removed all the schooling. I totally believe they think that's the truth.

We might not be a perfect people, but at least we're less dumb than all the rest of the peoples.

I love you but call me a troll again and I'll leave for sunbeltrant.com. Their mods aren't nearly as hostile toward rational, educated discussions.

EDIT: Oh you anchored this didn't you you sly dog.

Soften steel beams. Remember there was also an impact that caused tremendous structural damage to both towers. Collapse was inevitable.
