I don't know how common it is elsewhere but I work with a couple of people who sign emails or hand written notes with only the first letter of their first name. This irks me for some reason. The most annoying thing about it is that one guy's name has three letters in it and the other guy's has four. Are they so damned important that they can't waste the time to write two or three more letters?

Where did that one come from anyways? That's a stereotype I'm not too familiar with.

It's pretty common in Alabama. I've never seen anyone as afraid of friendly dogs as black people.

My boss e-mailed me once told me to fill out the LFE, so we can get the TPI over and the AFE# is 27622.
My reply:
AFE,TPI,LFE, WTF?

"Circle back" drives me nuts - have a person in the office that actually pauses and draws a circle with her finger when she says it. Also, "Let's table this discussion" is just a way to say STFU.

When you hear the word "Absolutely!" you know you're dealing with a salesman trying to make a sale or a boss trying to impress someone.

Not really jargon, but I have a vendor that refers to himself in the third person in his emails half the time and it confuses the frick out of me.

working insurance, just the lingo in general gets annoying. Insured, claimant, "be advised", or "claimant stated...", disclaimer of coverage letters, reservation of rights. it is tolderable on the clock but when people talk about what i do for work it makes me cringe to hear any of those words or phrases.....i think its just because i spend so much time here.

The Army has some horrible ones..

Had an old boss say "cross walk" all the time instead of touch base. He had another one that always made me picture Native Americans getting ready for mealtime that I can't remember. It was real fricking stupid..

"Reach out". It means to communicate with someone. Why not just say call or email them?

Using a noun as a verb. Can you "action" that?

Using a verb as a noun. I had a critical "learning" from that project.

Or "business decision" instead of "we're going to kiss the customer's arse and give them some free shite in an effort to get some new work in the future." This shite never works BTW.

Some of yall get irked at the strangest phrases. Touch base, circle back...I mean these are just synonyms for other things that are used in everyday life (not just the workplace). I can't imagine finding those irritating.

For me, it is without a doubt "please advise", the reason being because it is incredibly redundant. I'll get an email like "what do you think about XYZ? Please advise".

Umm...you just asked me a question that I am going to give you an answer to. That is me advising. You don't have to clarify that I need to advise, when you JUST asked me the question.

I agree. I get irritated when folks make things harder than they should be. Could give a shite about phrases.
