if these are your 2 options, I'd go with Murfreesboro.

But depending on your age also...

If you're married and/or have kids I'd look into Williamson County. They have some of the best schools in the country.

My family lived in Murfreesboro when I was very young, but I still remember it. It's certainly changed a lot over the years - has grown so much. Sometimes, I wish we hadn't moved from there. The Nashville area is such a great place to live regardless of age - great for families as well as for younger singles.

Murfreesboro and it isn't even a discussion. You are thirty minutes from downtown. Its a college town. Murfreesboro has grown insanely in the last ten or so years. My only problem with it is it is pretty homogenized. Not a whole lot of unique local flavor.

Unless you are into meth, in which case Manchester is right up your alley.

Can't even handle it anymore. Way to crowded. I love The Fivespot, but Bap has way outgrown it.

Sorry couldn't get back. Meh those really aren't my only choices but I wanted to stay east. What about Chattanooga?

I do have three kids so I will definitely look into Williamson County.

We have been really impressed with the schools in Williamson County. We moved from a great school district in Texas, but they are at another level here. We looked in other areas like Hendersonville and Mt Juliet, but it is hard to beat Williamson County.

What's the cost of living like there? Land? Houses? I'd like to live in the country.

Williamson County is more expensive, but you get what you pay for. The cost of living here is more expensive than the DFW area. That was a little bit of a surprise to me. You have no state income tax and relatively low property trax, so that is a major plus.

If you want country living, then look in Thompsons Station. It is just south of Franklin in Wlliamson County.

Thanks for the info I'll check it out. I'm still wrestling with the idea of moving north. I like living in the country where I have privacy, and peace and quiet. Also I have land here in Georgia that makes it hard to leave. Great hunting, fishing, etc.

What does land go for per acre up there?

Chattanooga is a great spot.

We refer to it as Nashville before Nashville grew.

I agree. I've only saw Bap once and it was at Marathon and I had a blast.

It was New Years and I was...under multiple influences.

Are the schools good there and what's the price of land?

idk about the price on land..but yea there are some great schools in Nooga. UTC is also there if your kids are pushing college age.

I'd guess that land is not nearly as much as land clsoer to nashville. But idk for sure on that.

fwiw I mentioned Williamson co but keep in mind it's not cheap. But it is the best schooling in the entire state IMO. And I'm not from there, so you can take my word for it.

Here's some awards

Yeah it all depends on where you are here. I have a place in Lee County and land goes for 25-50k an acre.

I also have Cabin in Mitchell County and its more like 5K/ACRE.

Just wondering... not too crazy about the neighbors living right on top of you. I like to shoot and hunt and neighbors don't really appreciate that. I like to live right outside of town so I can still take advantage of the city life if I want it.

I'll definitely check it out. My job looks like it may take me to Murf so if it does then Williamson Co. will be my focus. Thanks. My brother is also thinking about moving there from Utah so he's looking for good schools too.
