This is why I've made a solemn pledge to delete my Facebook, texags, and SECr the second I ever make over a certain amount of money or ever become a "public figure" I'm not a jerk on here often but it would suck to have some comment made in jest 10 years ago in a message board come back and haunt me.

True. There's a level of "playing internet" a lot of people just don't get. I post some on another board full of just terrible personas. My wife has read some of the posts and was just appalled. But I've met several of the people that post there and they are great people in the reals, they're act on that particular board is an act for the most part. But I can see how an outsider could read some of my posts on that board and conclude that I'm a terrible person and try to destroy me.

We're kind of in a time where any joke can be taken literally and it's kind of scary.

Thanks, Women's Suffrage.

I have no sympathy for him. If you are a public figure, you have to guard your tongue. Or, in this case, fingers. He made it very easy for someone to find out who he is. And while the ethical stuff may be borderline, many of the things he said don't meet the standard of behavior I expect for an elected officer of the court. If these comments are an example of his thoughts and actions, that's fine; he can be an arse if he wants to be. But that's not the kind of person I think should be deciding legal matters. Too immature and biased, by far.

Yeah, he was a dumbass and liked to flaunt his success and authority too much.

Zero sympathy but his posts weren't that offensive.

Looks like some a-hole is out to get him.

I don't have any sympathy for him either, and while I didn't find his comments all that offensive, they certainly crossed a line for someone in his position.

I've certainly seen more offensive things here. No question. But not from a publicly elected officer of the court. That's the line he crossed for me. He's paid by the taxpayers to decide legal matters. Based on his comments, I question his ability to do that job in a fair and impartial manner. I would never vote for him again.

Too much ego, not enough sense.

Pretty sure it's the gays fault. Or the Muslims.

Actually, the original thread about it is on the Arkansas Board.

And I think some of you are missing the point. A judge is supposed to be impartial, and have some modicum of good judgment. Also, posting publicly about closed, private proceedings is generally frowned upon.

He is running for court of appeals judge, assuming nothing changes, and that election is in May. Considering the many derogatory and inflammatory comments he posted about the very state in which he lives, works, and is running for another higher position, he has a huge problem, imo, which I don't see his overcoming. His spokesperson for his campaign quit yesterday.

On a personal note, I'd prefer electing someone, regardless of office, who is smart enough not to choose to include his title in his username or brag about his cases on a message board because of his enormous ego and arrogance.

All of this.

He's a judge. He should know better. With his "anonymous" comments, he managed to offend a LOT of people whose votes he would need to be elected. Specifically, women, divorced people, blacks, mothers, people with ethnic names and Arkansasans. He should just drop out now.

I guess if you're in that sort of position there's gonna be someone that will go after you.

Makes me wonder what I've said on here (esp during game threads) and if I should spend a while going through my posts JDM style.
