This safe space shite is the most ridiculous, pussified thing I've ever heard of. How do these people feel good about themselves? I would feel embarrassed if I ever even had such a thought as to need a "safe space" to retreat to so nobody says mean things to me. If I feel realistically threatened then I create my own safe space by removing said threat with force.

What happens if you enter the safe space and call them every offensive word under the sun?

So they want a safe place literally right next to the free speech place? This will go well.

I made it through the first dude. Had to turn it off at the chick. I think the guy has some valid complaints about the frat guys. Bunch of yuppie white kids with more money than sense get together and they develop a groupthink that tends to be xenophobic. But guess what, they gave me shite as a GDI too. Get over it.

They're not asking for some "Black only zone", or something like that. They want something similar to what spectrum set up:

Our LGBTQ club called spectrum created the UA safe zone, where gay and lesbian students could go and speak to a professional staff if they are harassed because of their sexuality.

The students want something similar, which isn't so bad seeing as Alabama doesn't have an office of diversity affairs (one of the few schools in America that doesn't. Not saying I'd go to it, but it be nice to have.

That video was pretty powerful and very well done.

It's a much, much more effective mode of relaying their message than what the students at Mizzou chose to do, IMO.

Yeah the girl in that video is in one of my classes, and she showed us it today.

Even though no one ever called me the n word (at least to my face) what they were talking about is common enough at Alabama, and at just about every school to some extent.

Payton Head at Mizzou is black and openly gay. That's how racist Mizzou is, the student body elected a black, gay man as student president. And he was tweeting lies about the damn KKK being on campus last night.

Apologies in advance for the language used below, but I think censoring words is pointless and insulting to the people reading what you've written.

I was a student at UA when Shaun Alexander was there (overlapped for 2 years), and I'll never forget the 1999 Tennessee game. My girlfriend and I got there late, and ended up sitting with a friend and her brother in the fraternity section. There was this short, mousey sorority girl two rows in front of us. I can't remember how well Shaun did that day, but I can't imagine it was his best game considering we lost. Anytime Shaun got the ball and had a decent game, this little harpy would jump and scream "Let's go, Shaun! Roll Tide!" But any time he got hit at the line for no gain or lost a yard it was like a switch was flipped on inside her head. "Get this **** off the field! Give the ball to a white boy!"

We just absolutely couldn't believe it. We looked around but nobody else was batting an eye at what she was screaming. We ended up leaving in between the first and second quarter and found a different place to watch the game. Thinking back now, some 16 or 17 years later, I regret not confronting her.

Every time race and UA are brought up together I think about that game. I've never been more embarrassed about UA for something that happened in my lifetime.

Edit: Apparently, Tigerdroppings auto-censors words. You guys know what she said.

What they are asking for is, in her words, a place or a service only for non-whites and excluding whites, and therefore discriminatory. Whites also experience racial animosity by blacks as well...but that's ok with her, apparently. Her very request only serves to promote segregation and racism.

This nonsense is the height of absurdity. How in the hell have African Americans managed to get degrees from the University of Alabama for the last fifty years without "safe spaces".

As an LSU fan, I would of been fine with that last Saturday. I saw more of Henry than I wanted too.

I find it appalling that these racist student bodies elect black SGA Presidents.

How are people not understanding that just because you elect a black person, doesn't mean you suddenly no longer have racism.

As I posted in another thread, you could have as little as 5% of the white students be racist and that would still be more students than there are black students.

Just because Obama was elected President of the US doesn't mean the KKK suddenly disappeared.

Granted safe spaces are the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. It does not address the problem. Hurtful speech is still protected by the First Amendment, despite how much SJW want that to change.

5% is probably the percentage of students that voted for SGA. Seriously, no one but a few Greeks give a shite about that stuff.

I have a class here in St Pete that's at a new campus that's pretty much in the ghetto. Every fricking day that I drive away I get stuck at the same light. Black dudes yell at me. They walk up to my window and stare at me. Sometimes they bang on the sides of my car. They ask me if I want drugs or why I'm in their neighborhood. The first time it scared the absolute shite out of me. But I don't pay it any attention anymore. Sometimes I even point and laugh and say what's up.

I understand that being called the n word isn't very fun...but who the frick cares? You said it never happened to you...? Then how the the frick can it be this big of a problem?! Some people like to frick around at other peoples' expense. Some people are just frick stick assholes. Some people are mean. GET OVER IT. I can't imagine giving half a shite and spending time feeling bad for myself because someone doesn't like me.

Becuase they are ignorant. It blows my mind that people that don't go to UA, and never did, can discount the experience of someone that does currently go there.

I had a similar experience, coincidentally at the 2001 Tennessee game in Tuscaloosa. Went to the game with a black girl I had been friends with since high school. Our seats were on the 3rd or 4th row behind the Alabama bench, so we had to stand to watch the game. Old guy a few rows behind us kept yelling at us to sit down. We ignored him, as did everyone on our row that was standing. At some point he called me a "ni**er lover". Thankfully, everyone around us was appalled and someone went and got a cop and the cop made him leave. Not sure if he was kicked out or went somewhere else to sit.
