Terrible hire. This won't be a good fit.

Horrible hire. This makes one thing clear to me...Alden was forced out by Loftin to pave the way for one of Loftin's people. Has nothing to do with whether or not Loftin was doing a good job. Has everything to do with Loftin trying to recreate Texas A&M at Mizzou.
I don't like it.

I'm guessing Pinkel had veto power or at least a lot of input on the hire. I bet Pinkel likes and approves of the hire.

I bet Pinkel wasn't as much in the loop as one might expect.

Must be a good hire after all.
I'm on board.

I don't think there's any doubt about this.
And if you don't want to be forced out of a $700k/yr job, you don't hire D2 basketball coaches when Gregg Marshall turns you down.

I can't imagine GP being in any sort of danger.
This guy might be quick to the trigger, but he's not dumb. GP will retire a Tiger, the key will be keeping the momentum rolling with a home run hire when the time comes.
I had zero faith in Alden when it came to that.
All in all, time will tell. I think Anderson is on the hot seat starting in April though. He's gonna have a short leash, he's not Rhoades' guy, and he's in over his head.

Rhoades has a pretty atrocious hiring record as well.

Pinkel isn't going anywhere. Rhoades isn't an idiot. He knows Pinkel has free reign until he retires. That being said, no statue for Pinkel til he wins a conference championship.

I will take a "wait and see" approach.
A few points:
- Tom Herman might be worth watching at Houston in terms of being a Pinkel replacement years down the road. He has great connections in SEC and Big 10 country. If Herman does well at Houston, he might be Mizzou's new football coach after Pinkel retires.
- I will echo another comment and say this makes me feel considerably better for the future of basketball. If Mizzou stinks again next year, Kim is 100 percent gone. I also like that he hired Kelvin Sampson and to me, that indicates he's willing to make a gusty hire rather than one that just satisfies older fans. I think the possibility of Ben Howland coaching at Mizzou increased substantially today.

Might be. I think this guy probably knows his boundaries. But when it comes to dealing with boosters and large donors, things can get sticky. But thats supposedly his strong point. Maybe he can get the money necessary to hire the Gregg Marshall types of coaches. As you said, time will tell. I think Anderson is given two more years. That third year will be huge for KA.

Did he hire Sumlin?
I'm too lazy to look. If he did, that was a good one, the rest meh, however, it is Houston.
He hired what's his name from OU after he had numerous violations, so maybe he isn't a giant clitoris when it comes to that like Alden was.
Alden would have never hired Haith had he known his transgressions, and he pulled a double fail with KA. That was probably his downfall. He pretty much stumbled into GP, and probably made the right decision by not canning him 10 years ago. If he had hired Self instead of Quin Snyder, he'd probably still be AD, and everyone would be ready to name a building after him.
