Kul has been at Mizzou since Pinkel came. He's been a position coach the entire time, and has turned into a fantastic one. Our DL has turned into a major strength, and that's huge in this conference. I don't know anything about his other skills though - organization, delegation, etc. I'd love to see him have a shot at DC with us. He's earned it.

I compare this to Northwestern and Pat Fitzgerald. If you're wanting to hire from within, choose the guy who is the heart and soul of the team. Fitzgerald coached LBs, was not DC, but kept the continuity. Kul fits that model much better than Odom.

Actually several coaches have talked about Odom. Freeze from Ol' Miss put Odom and Patterson as the 2 hardest defenses to prepare for.

Whoever is the coach next year should be told that they have to keep coach Kul on staff.

I've never heard any coach talk about preparing for Odom's defense or even his defensive philosophy. However coaches consistently comment on Kuls work.

Odom turned heads at Memphis, and not just hack Mizzou fans heads.

Had we not jumped on him when we did, with Fuente leaving and Smart leaving Bama, you'd have heard about him as Bama/Sabans next coaching genius.

Odom was brought here for a reason. He's going to be GP's legacy, perhaps along with Grinch which was a strech for us I thought. However, my guys at WSU absolutely love him. Grinch is the real deal apparently, unexpectedly as it may be, but all signs point to him being a legitimate coach.

I'll be the first to admit I'm shocked by this. I read the Grinch hire as a crony hire. Turns out GP knew the deal.

For the record, they love Yost too, and don't be surprised if that first trip to Seattle won't yield some dividends.

Count me in as one of the guys that hates the idea of Yost, and blew off Grinch.

No, I'm not saying Yost or Grinch are in play for head coach. I'm told Yost has learned some things from the Pirate, and Grinch is a legit star in the making, and a hell of a recruiter.

He's beloved by the guys in Pullman, Rhodes is getting coaches together.

What you're describing sounds like we get a star caretaker HC for a few years with Odom as HCIW. That would be a dream. But how often do dreams come true?

I really hope you're not blowing sunshine.

How much I would like to believe we have this hidden homerun hire with an allstar coaching staff being put together, I keep coming back to we are Mizzou, and at the end of the day, Odom will be hired as HC.

Not that I don't like Odom, I just prefer a proven and successful P5 HC right now while Odom gets more experience. I think the reality is what it actually appears like, the instability at Mizzou has made some good coaches back away and Rhoades is left working his arse off to find the best HC replacement. I hope I am wrong but I'm pessimistic about all this.
