Per Gabe at PM

Nothing announced yet, but he's hearing it a lot.

Updated: Odom has left Memphis, no deal in place, has until Thursday to decide. Still waiting on mizzou

Expected and happy for him. Hope he does well.

People can talk about how he will make a great HC, and I hope he does, but Mizzou is not a training wheels destination. We need an experienced top tier coach to compete in the East.

Maybe in a few years that is Odom. Right now? He's an unknown when sitting in the big chair.

I agree.

I think Odom has handled the process well and presented a solid plan with respect to personnel he would bring in. It speaks well of his chances for success. I think he'll do a good job at Memphis and wish him the best of luck.

Good for him. Now it gets interesting what Mack does

I think something will happen with Odom today or at the latest tomorrow? He wants Mizzou and Memphis will not wait forever.

Big time pressure on Rhoades to get this right.

I am of the camp that you don't hire an assistant coach without HC experience for Mizzou in 2015. But some folks are really talking Odom up. Makes me wonder. My trust is with Rhoades.

This is a giant hire.

I really hope MR lands someone big, because if we pass over Odom for a shitty midmajor coach like Barbers (who we'd hire for PC reasons alone) or Wells or the like then that's a massive failing on his part. Seems like Richt or bust at this point which is pretty scary if you ask me.

Memphis can be a tough school to win at but Odom knows the area very well and can at least put up a fight for recruits against Ole Miss. I think it might take him a year or two to get things going there, which is not a knock on Odom. Fuentes first couple of seasons at Memphis were miserable.

Its a good landing spot for him and a place where, if he does well, he could find himself in the mix for an SEC HC job.

If MR is letting Odom walk he must have someone really good on the line.

He'll be in-play until Memphis announces. My guess is today or tomorrow?

The pressure is on Rhoades.

Sweet Baby Jesus. Someone wake me when it's over?

I will say this - I think MR is MUCH better at diversionary tactics and misdirection than Alden ever was.

Mack finalizing the deal which is not with Odom. Memphis putting pressure on Odom. Odom keeping Mizzou option open in case Rhoades' deal isn't finalized.

Rhoades better not frick this up. If he passes over Odom for some dime a dozen mid major coach I'm going to be beyond pissed.

It would be a very Mizzou move to hire some scrub that bombs and have Odom go on to become a star.

frick...
