I didn't know if it was actually possible to be a bigger fan of Michael Sam than I already was. I now am.

Proud to be a fan of a player who has the courage to be who he is and maybe make it easier for others to feel comfortable in the future.

How so? Did he kill anyone like Ray Lewis did who is praised? Is he a drug addict? A rapist? A thug? No he is a hard worker. A good man. If you don't like Sam because he is gay you better not like the 84 teammates and countless staff members who knew his entire career at Mizzou and still loved him like a brother.

GTFO with this. Is he not still a great football player? However, I don't think this will help his draft status if true.

I'm glad he came out, if for no other reason than homophobic jackasses like you getting exposed.

There will be a time when people of your ilk realize that people are people no matter their sexual orientation, and when you do you'll feel pretty stupid about how you treated others based on something that has zero effect on your personal existence.

The world will be a better place when we just let people be people.

Anyone who thinks this is a bad thing is a fricking loser.

This! Sadly it may effect his draft stock in a bad way but no matter what round a player is drafted in, if he is good he will have success.

CNNSI wrote about his draft stock and the people they interviewed think it's going to drop.

https://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20140209/michael-sam-draft-stock/
quote:

The executives and coaches were granted anonymity by SI.com for their honesty and their answers were consistently unsparing.
"I don't think football is ready for it just yet," said an NFL player personnel assistant. "In the coming decade or two, it's going to be acceptable, but at this point in time it's still a man's man game. To call somebody a [gay slur] is still so commonplace. It'd chemically imbalance an NFL locker room and meeting room."
All the NFL personnel interviewed agreed that Sam's announcement will cause him to drop in the draft

quote:

Sam's announcement did not come as a surprise to most NFL teams. Sam's sexual orientation was considered an open secret in his college town of Columbia, Mo., and the assistant personnel man said he believed "90 percent of teams" already were aware that Sam was gay and had dropped him on their draft boards.

I applaud Michael Sam for coming out but this could hurt his draft stock severely according to the article below.

This makes me really sad. And makes me like NFL even less. I prefer college sports, especially football and basketball, anyway. But if teams pass on him because of this? I'll watch NFL even less.

Sam doesn't give a frick about his draft stock. If he doesn't care about his draft stock, why the frick do any of you give a frick?

If he went really high round, that makes you feel better? He goes low round or not at all because he's gay, that makes you feel shitty?

I think his draft stock will take a bit of a hit, but not much. But I think his name recognition and potential endorsement deals went up.
