Missouri’s depth—or lack thereof—at defensive end has been a hot topic of conversation. With Charles Harris on to the NFL and Nate Howard in legal limbo, there is plenty of playing time available on the edge. A converted linebacker’s name has emerged as a strong contender over the first week of camp.

“Tremendous first step,” Odom said. “Initially going into fall camp, was thinking we’d design some third down packages for him, but after seven or eight days, he’s going to be a really good first and second down player too.”

Agbasimere signed as a very raw 220-pound linebacker out of Montverde Academy in 2015. He's now listed at 245 and Odom said he’s between 250 and 255.

“If we played tomorrow, he’d play a lot,” the coach said. “He’s got a chance to be a really good player.”

Was going to post this. Here is the link

One of those guys with "wow" film. Good to hear he is up to 250+. If he is a factor then losing Howard doesn't hurt nearly as much

There some very promising things in that article. I'm hoping that the DE position gets some solidity and we have a potent pass rush this year. I think the corners are going to need it.

I'm cautiously optimistic this year. Maybe that's the early excitement getting the better of me, but I think that Odoms defensive coaching along with an improved offense can really surprise this year.

Ahhhhhgggg, don't let my head talk myself into anything.

After the last couple years, I just want hat to do well and make progress. At least, that's what I'll tell myself every week before gametime

If he does get significant playing time, it will be fun hearing the announcers trying to pronounce his name!

Has it been discussed anywhere that maybe our D secondary woes were caused by our less aggressive defensive scheme at the beginning of last year? I haven't really analysed it, but it's a theory worth considering. Pressure on the QB has to take pressure off DBs.

I always though Agbasimere had star ability. Had an injury and then switched positions, was asked to add weight.

If he has the mass and strength to play DE on 3 downs you just aren't going to find many guys that are more athletic. He's explosive. I predict a BIG year.

Watch this kid move

I'm with y'all. I remember watching that tape and thought damn. If he can be that explosive and athletic at 250+ and has learned better technique, he can be special.

Agreed. Hopefully Frank fills the void.

Good wheels. Must not let blockers get to his chest. Sort of reminds me of Aldon Smith.

FA stepping up will allow Haley to keep Williams and Frazier in rotation on the left edge. Anderson, FA, and Harold can rotate at RE and allow for some exotic looks up front.

Word is that Tre Williams hasn't been too impressive.

Whose "word"? He gets his reps vs Tyler Howell. Would you rather hear that he is beating Howell like a hard on?

Gabe and Matter asked Odom and Cross about how has he looked and they both said inconsistent, but he has potential. Then they started back to praising Franklin Agbasimere.
It was on PM.

Fair enough. I'd be more concerned if he was consistently manhandling Howell.

First live scrimmage is tomorrow. It will be interesting to hear what Gabe and Dave are allowed to report.

I don't think media is allowed to watch any of it. Which sucks, but the Mizzou network always does a (limited) report.

It is closed to the media so they can only report what the staff feeds them.
