We thought we could have gotten Richt. Discussion got pretty heavy. Either he chose UGA first or we chose GP. Im not mad, just saying to think we cant get better than a MAC coach in the future is asinine

Two recruits dont change a football program. Even LBJ by himself cant win a title in the NBA when its 5 on 5.

This is 11 on 11. We need 4-5 high profile recruits per year to take the next step and close the talent gap.

As far as 15, name me the last time a team won 3 straight divisions without being a powerhouse. You can say WVU, they have proven the Big East really was the big Least since their inception into the big 12.

I am sure you will rattle off some names in the past and compare them to now. The comparison wouldnt be accurate so please save me the time on this one.

Is Richt a better coach than Pinkel?

Does coaching in the MAC mean you aren't a good coach?

This is indeed funny. There is nothing wrong with MAC coaches.

Urban Meyer and Nick Saban were BOTH MAC coaches.

I never heard rumors that Richt wanted the Missouri job. And why would he have when he had Georgia, already a much better program at the time? Our program was not in as good a shape as it is now. Georgia was. Pinkel and Alden have built Mizzou into a much better job. In fact, I seriously doubt we could have joined the SEC without Pinkel and Alden.

I'm still waiting for a single valid name who would want the job NOW that would be a big upgrade over Pinkel.

So what you're saying is, "facts will not change my mind so don't even try." So I won't.

Instead, how about a paradigm shift? If Missouri wins the SEC East for the third time in a row it means we ARE a powerhouse.

Regarding recruits, no. It doesn't take 4-5 extra impact players to make a profound difference. 2 extra 4/5 star players per year would change our rankings from high 20's/low 30's to the mid-teens or higher. 2 players. That's it. Recruit 2 impact guys per year (a lot harder than it sounds) and that means we'll have 8-10 extra impact players on the roster at any point in time. That is huge.

You can bet the staff is doing their best to get them. 2015 may be the class where we start.

Other than he interviewed for the job. Pretty sure he "wanted" the job since he interviewed.

Coaches talk to schools, sometimes as leverage to get better salary or another job.

It means nothing unless we offered and they accepted. Further, given Mizzou's program at the time, I don't think we have any idea if he would have done better or worse than Pinkel or might have leapfrogged to another job by now.

Last, the question wasn't about who we interviewed back in the day, it is who would be a big upgrade over Pinkel who would take the job NOW.

The crickets are deafening.
