So we've had 7 commits in the last week, 1 5* kicker, 1 4* DE, 2 3*, 2 2*, and now an unrated (probably 3*) OT. With so few spots remaining I would expect us to slow down and be more selective going forward. I'd like to see some DT's and another DE who are high 3 to 4* kids as well as a WR with some size.

I know some people question a kicker and punter on scholarship, but when special teams are shaky, it bites you in the azz at the worst times.

STs represent 1/3 of the field position game, especially vital with our offensively challenged teams of late.

Investing in top notch kickers is a wise investment with the razor thin margins of the SEC.

mubobby also followed up after the commit saying Abbington is a class short, taking it this summer. He'll make it, but he'll be late, which could effect PT this year.

Also said this:
Q: Why are people so low on Ish? I thought he improved

He goes down way too easily. Runs soft.

Coaches are wanting a bigger compliment to Hansborough. Either Steward (health still in the air) or Abbington (who still hasn't qualified).

I'm glad the coaching staff recognizes this.

If Mizzou hopes to contend upgrading RB2 is critical.

I think maybe that's just his opinion. I happen to agree, but not sure what else we are going to do at RB. Hope Witter has improved.

He's listed as an athlete but with his size is a sure bet to be OT and will probably play that spot this year. He's a guy who probably won't see a bit of playing time until year 3 or 4 but will likely be on campus for 5 years.

Well, I went from struggling to find a 247 page for him to now he not only has one but is a 4*.

At first I was thinking the same thing but it seems like where these guys are coming from is what makes this class so different. I think they upped the travel budget for the recruiters so they can fan out and establish a much bigger footprint and relationships to go with it.

7 of our 12 commits I believe are from Missouri and Illinois. The rest are from Texas, Louisiana or Georgia. I agree that they seem to be going all over the country but where our commits have come from is no different so far.

Wow that's awesome that Newman is now a 4 star. Incredible find. But why not list him as a DE? Kid is a beast, batting down passes is such an underrated trait in D-Lineman.

I feel like we could never have enough DE's, and he should stick with that until we really need him at OL.

Honestly, he looks like the type of kid who could play both ways, but those are two grueling positions to do it at.

Anyway, love the pickup

Great feet and athleticism. I think OT is the perfect spot for him. Reminds me of Justin Britt.

This makes three 4* OL in the last three years I believe. Imagine the line Drew Lock will have when it is his time to take the reigns.

I don't know if I would lump in Illinois automatically with Missouri since we've only averaged 1 Illinois player per year since 2010. While its great to see our growth in the last 2 recruiting classes because of ESL, we are not assured of anything more than 15 miles from the Arch. After that its Illini country. Or at least B1G country.

With that said, we only have 3 Missouri players committed so far. And we've only got 2 more that we've offered in state(Tre Bryant and AJ TAylor) left that we've offered.

My point was really more addressing the budget. Taylor, Strong and McCann only add about $10 to the recruiting budget if they were in STL already. Just across the river. Newman is a bit further but not much. Same for Texas, Louisiana and Georgia. We were already recruiting those areas so at least these commits are guys that we'd be pursuing regardless of increased budget.

BTW - Bravion Roy, who we made the top 3 for, committed to Baylor.

Disappointing as I really like his size.... but I think we will manage without him.

Would have loved to have landed him but there are always other guys.

By my count, have 17 seniors on scholarship. We have 11 commits. We have 6 open spots that are a certainty. Anything beyond that will have to involve early departures either through the draft or transferring.

I would bet they will do at least 20 this class maybe 22.

I think you're right. Have to figure Brantley is gone. That takes us to 18. That means 2-4 current players transferring out or current commits not qualifying. That range seems pretty reasonable.

I don't know who it will end up being, but I still think they need to land in this cycle:

QB
TE
WR WR
OL
DL DL DL
LB

After that, it's icing.
