If you make cogent arguments for patience, I can have patience. Nonsense like "we don't need wings, that's why we stopped recruiting Sneed" is not cogent.

I thought Jackson the wing from Ohio was the reason the coaches backed off of Sneed.

Don't think I ever said that about wings and I've made many sound arguments for patience after 1 year. Time will tell, I hope your wrong...

You have reading comprehension issues.

Where have I said to fire him?

The only thing I have done is given an opinion on the job done to date, which is hovering around a D or D-. That doesn't mean he can't turn it around but it also doesn't mean that I'm going to turn a blind eye or make excuses for him when he loses a talent like Teki. And spare me the bullshite about how Teki wasn't all that good anyways or had an attitude.

I'll fall off my damn chair the day you can understand that one can look critically at something without it meaning they expected to win a national championship last year.

Yea that probably an accurate evaluation. Recruiting probably won't really pick up until he shows significant improvement. This JUCO class is super deep so if KA & the team do improve on the court there is a good possibility that he lands a couple difference makers in the spring. But the team must play better than last year by a wide margin.

Yeah, the good news is that it's like hitting .100 after the first week of the baseball season. It doesn't take much to lift that batting average up significantly, so it's not like KA doesn't have the chance or the opportunity to pull it all together.

My biggest problem is just not understanding the direction he is taking the program. The hire of Fulford makes no sense when it doesn't seem to help in recruiting. I seriously doubt he's THAT good at x's and o's to make the jump from HS to high major college ball. Tate makes no sense except for the nostalgia and if he gets Cook to commit. Then again, maybe there is something magical about those hires that I will nod my head some day and say "Ahhhh, what a great master plan."

Fulford was brought to Mizzou through Fuller. He supposedly has great contacts nationally with AAU programs. The 2 highest rated commits last year were Fulford recruits. (Walton & Phillips)

I think you are looking at Tate too much of short term gain. Tate has great contacts in STL, Memphis, & Chicago. Those cities have a lot of talent year in year out. If he can change Mizzous recruiting in any of those cities over the next few years he will be a plus. Lots of schools were talking to him about an assistant position at the end of last year.

Another consideration with Tate has to be the NCAA changing eligibility requirements. This likely results in more kids going to JUCOs. With KA, Tate, & Loos all having extensive JUCO connections, it could help get some of those impact JUCO transfers. If KA keeps his job after the season I kinda expect Mizzou to get 1-2 JUCO recruits per year until KA can establish himself as a coach that can get HS kids.

Huge recruiting weekend.

quote:

@BLUEChip_Miller: Missouri will have Motlow State (TN) guard Jaylen Barford (@Jbarford1) on campus this weekend for an official visit.

quote:

@BLUEChip_Miller: Missouri will also unofficially host 2016 Bryan Trimble and Adrian Moore along with 2017 five-stars Jeremiah Tilmon and Michael Porter Jr.

Also think A. Cook is visiting. Barford is one of the top 5 JUCO players in this class. Not sure who Tremble & Moore are.

I get what he's SUPPOSED to have. I was talking about what he's actually brought to the table, which I certainly had thought/hoped would be a lot more than what he has.

He better change it sooner than the next few years. If the change is 3 years from now, that will be too late. So far, he hasn't changed a thing. Hopefully he does this year.

The biggest thing to help recruiting is winning. KA needs to be around.500 or better this year. If he does that then better prospects will start committing.

There are talented players on the roster right now. Clark, Wright, Gant, Walton were all top 100 level commits.
Woods & Payne were top 50 level JUCO players.
Those are the guys that Anderson will sink or swim with.

Clark, Wright and Gant were brought in by Haith and Fuller. I give KA and Fulford some credit for getting those guys to stay and getting Walton.

Teki left for .reasons other than on the court issues. I think he will be a solid college player. Hopefully they can fill his spot with some size.

Fulford hire didn't make sense without connections...but I'm sure glad it happened. Absolute rising star who could be at a much better program if he waited 1 or 2 more years. Started Huntington Prep, which is the new ticket to college coaching. Has connections everywhere. X's and O's may or may not be his strength, but he has definitely been a boon for recruiting. He has plenty of Top 50-100 guys looking at us that wouldn't even sniff us otherwise.

Now, I'm all for great players...but another wing seems like something we don't need for this class...let alone a juco who would basically replace Teki in the already big sophomore class.

I didn't like the Tate hire. St. Louis recruiting is too unpredictable to hire a JUCO coach for that area. A "decent" juco at that.

I really hope the guys can make some real strides this season...but I'm not holding my breath.

Barford would be a huge get. He could step in from day 1 and lead Mizzou in scoring. Be the best player on the team.

Tate also has great connections in Chicago & Memphis. His teams also played an uptempo style that is fun for players & fans. Give him a chance.

Agreed on Fulford

So what are the starting 5 for next year anyway?

I am so disgusted I really haven't been paying attention.
