Considering the outcome, it's probably best we couldn't have any recruits there anyway

We could and did have 'croots at the game this week, just not LSU and Kentucky. (And one more that I can't remember)

I mean I stayed the entire game. I was just trying to state my case. I mean I left the Troy game at half because I was extremely happy, drunk, and wanted to watch the primetime game on tv (which now, I forgot what it was). If we had been playing a team worth a shite you bet your arse I would've stayed.

I definitely think it's high time we started charging more for student tickets.

When you make them pay, or camp overnight for tickets, etc. it makes the whole experience that much more worth while.

We charge so very little compared other schools, and I understand the reason why we kept it so cheap to begin with but now we're beyond that and it's time for students to earn the privledge to attend the games...

That way, maybe they'll stay for longer when we have a game on the line.

Here's my 2 cents from an outsider's perspective.

I bought the student ticket package for the Bama ticket pretty much. I have given away/sold my ticket to the other games. I stay in the Junction and drink/watch other games (mostly drink), if I'm not in Tuscaloosa for a Bama game.

While a student at Bama for undergrad, we had the same problem with students leaving games early save the big games (LSU, TAMU, close games with Auburn/Tennessee). But even for SEC games that turned into blowouts or 'comfortable wins' the section would start thinning out around half time and get exponentially worse as the 2nd half went on.

It seems like a growing problem across all universities. LSU fans seem to complain about shitty student sections a lot (and shitty regular sections as well). Just better options to watch the game, crappy cell service, and lack of alcohol make leaving the game more preferable. Attendance in general doesn't have the same 'mystique' it used to have. Seems that going to games just isn't as special as it used to be.

Just my two cents. It's a shame the student section couldn't be full, but just wanted to give a little perspective - I don't think its a problem unique to MSU.

Need to have a gate only for students to enter and leave. Put a fence inside so they can't go anywhere but there sections. (I believe Auburn does this) Quit selling season tickets at the beginning of season. Drop their allotment from 11K to 7-8K. Make it easy on these lazy asses and let them go online and buy their tickets on Monday through Wednesday. The ticket is loaded on their student ID. The ticket will cost $20 a game to make it worth going. The supply and demand will let you go up to $20. They scan them when they enter the game at the gate. You also scan when you leave. To see when you're leaving. Have a system set up on a point system by being there and when you leave. By their junior or senior year if you leave to many times the year before you don't get tickets. frick em.

If people thinking what a cluster after the game. Trying to scan that many students trying to leave. If you make it to a certain time of the game you don't have to scan them.

Yeah but we did it while we were barely winning. You can't justify having an empty student section in a game that ends at 21-20. There's just no excuse for that. That's pathetic and I would have never done that as a student. I am not saying I don't leave early from time to time, but I would have never left in that situation. Why go to the game if you don't care if you are going to win or lose? Because that's basically what you are saying if you leave in that situation. If whiskey is the problem, drink more before you go in, bring more in with you, and get your girl to bring some. I mean this shite isn't that difficult.

Preaching to the choir here. But I would guess that the Bama student section would have looked similar to the MSU in the same situation Saturday. Possibly worse because our students would assume we were gonna pull away in the 2nd half.

I was in Tuscaloosa for the Colorado St. game. I was sitting with my parents and the student section emptied by halftime and got worse as it went on. It was 17-6 in the late 3rd or early 4th and we had scored one offensive touchdown (scored a TD off a blocked punt), so we werent exactly beating the doors off them.

I agree it was lame that the student section was empty, but it seems to be a common problem among schools.

Stricklin is about to go on Head to Head to discuss the student section attendance. If anyone is listening, replay the message please. TIA
