Come on, Dynasty. You are giving enough to be on the Club Level seating waiting list but you are pleased with and plan on staying in Section 7. Give us a little bit of credit.

It started out about Dudy Noble and then turned into people complaining about everything costing too much money, which was then countered with we have some of the cheapest tickets in the SEC.

College sports are becoming college academics. Most schools in the US have cost of attendance rising at 6% to 12% per year over the past several decades while income of the general population has been flat or increased by 1% to 3% per year. This trend just seems to be doubled or tripled in college sports which just makes the disparity more obvious.

The OP was intended to debate the value of human fans who come to every game over decades and the inhuman corporate fans that seem to be replacing them as the money gets higher and higher. When say $500 a month or $6,000 per year + ticket costs is the entry point of supporting a favored college team is it by default killing off the older and most loyal fans on the top end while denying entry of the next generation - kids and teenagers - of college fans?

Adding insult to this, is blocks of seats being sold to professional scalpers with the blessing of the NCAA and the schools before the seats are offered to the donors. At least in the old days if you donated say 5K per year you got the first shot for bowl tickets or games played outside the confines of the HOME venue. Now those tickets go to outsiders first.

On a side note, I personally hate when the argument is "well other schools charge more" as if this really has anything to do with it. If the cost of living is doubled in a place like FL or TX and said places have a double income value why is this not also pointed out when making these comparisons?

When TV deals add 20 to 30 million per school per year our universities seem content to just spend more instead of giving a break to the folks who got them to this point over multiple generations. I guess my view would be something along this line…

State made a promise to grandpa back in the 80's and should keep that promise till grandpa dies or no longer comes to the games. First, it may only be another 5 or 10 years till gramps is done with live games and that is a brief moment in relation to the timeline of MSU sports. Second, giving a break now may mean a donation of greater value when grandpa shuffles the mortal coil. Third, as Top 50 revenue generator - over 60 million per year - how much does pricing grandpa out really add to the bottom line?

10% of 60 million is 6 million
1% of 60 million is 600 thousand
.1% of 60 million is 60 thousand
.01% of 60 million is 6 thousand
.001% of 60 million is 6 hundred

With the lack of attendance at the USC Vs. LSU Game I wonder how many LSU fans get their tickets from corporate or other sources, like family members, et Cetera...

Here's what I actually said, but whatever makes you feel better.

Just curious, but what are you talking about here? Wondering because we'd thought about purchasing an RV so I'd like to know more about it.

Plus, RVs are notorious for drastic depreciation. Add another several thousand a year in depreciation.

We'd also thought about buying a condo vs. the RV. Obviously, the downside is you can't go anywhere else with a condo. Do you leave the RV parked in Starkville year round? At the end of the day, we decided neither was a good option for us and we'll just stay in a hotel for 2 or 3 weekends a year and drive in and out for the rest.

I know exactly what you said and you stated that your 2 tickets cost $825 so I made the assumption that you make the minimum contribution toward the purchase of tickets in Section 7. You said I assumed incorrectly. So, if you are making a contribution over the minimum for that section hoping to get to the Club Level then your tickets costs are not $825 but 825 plus the extra contribution.

We have a lot in Starkville Station (right behind Corkey's). We own the lot, and yes the RV stays there year round. About the only time it moves is to go to the SEC Baseball tourney. We have to pay taxes on the property, association dues, insurance and tag on the 5th wheel, cable tv, electricity and sanitation fees. We also looked at condos and even a house. Remember though, you can only file homestead exemption on one piece of property in Ms and Starkville taxes are high. We looked at one property and the taxes were going to be $3,200 per year without homestead. So, we quit looking. They are building some "cottages" right behind Starkville Station that start in the $240,000 range. Anything in the under $200k range in Starkville right now is probably a 1 BR/1 Bath.

Did not know Starkville real estate was so overpriced.

I do tend to notice the corporate folks only turn out themselves for the big games and may let tickets sit unused for the smaller games. While my sample data pool may be small, this seems very accurate. In the older days when say a family had the seats they were filled for both big and small games with a family pecking order in place.

I don't think housing is that overpriced. Condos anywhere near the Cotton District or campus in general are pretty pricey. Google The Gin on Russell and take a gander. I would love to have one right there behind The Comfort Suites on Russell. You probably got a flyer on them when your season tickets came.

You do realize that you can make contributions to the bulldog club during the whole year and not just when you purchase your tickets correct?

It doesn't matter when you make the donation, it still applies to your points. So what I pay for each of my season tickets whether they be basketball, football, or baseball, doesn't indicate the complete dollar amount that I contribute.

Also, other than to get into a pissing match with random people on a message board why would I disclose what my overall contribution is? What would be the point in adding in my total donation with my football season ticket number? It would be completely stupid for me to throw out some dumb number and say, "this is what I paid for my season tickets in section 7".

We were looking into a lot less inexpensive properties than those. You can get a 2 bedroom for less than $100K, or you could a few months ago. The newer high end developments within walking distance to campus are obviously quite a bit more.

Either you have plenty of money and just like to bitch about the price of shite, or you try to act like a highroller but do not have the money to keep up. I know how much those lots cost when they first built them and I know what they cost now, and I know what kind of buses are parked there.

Don't come at me, trying to act like I don't have any money all the while bitching about how much stuff costs when you pick the most expensive things to do, grandpaw.

There are some highrollers there but I am not one of them. My RV is probably one of the least expensive one in there. I never said anything about how much money you have and furthermore, don't care. I was just trying to help you with your math.
