(like at least 50, and possibly closer to 70)

When they did the baseball upgrade in the mid 80's they did $1,000 seat donations that were supposed to carry forward during the lifetime of the original donors (and possibly beyond). With the new renovations that donation will no longer be honored after this season (?) and unless you hit the same donors again for a larger amount, they are out.

Is this correct?
Are any on here affected by this, and what are your thoughts?

Well it's a new stadium, so they shouldn't be honored anymore.

My thoughts are the old timers that have gotten premium seats for practically nothing the past few decades need to stop bitching and pony up.

They offered these folks first dibs and a reduced rate IIRC on chairbacks in the new stadium.

1,000 bucks in the 80's would be like 3,000 to 5,000 in todays dollars and they still had to buy the season tickets every year. The dude I know is like 75 now and living on a fixed income so several thousand now is a bit more difficult. I could see starting fresh with the next generation but sort of grandfather in the grandfathers so to speak. At 75 he many only have another 5 to 10 years of enjoyment left of going to live games.

I guess I can see both sides but I saw this a few years ago when they pushed some retired folks out the door at another school. The folks that replaced them were not families or fans but corporations or law firms who were not really into the games like the ones before them. I just do not know what the correct thing is but I would always prefer the folks that show up for all the games and really follow the team to be around me at games.

They got their money's worth. I think most people understand that it is a new stadium.

I wish they would do the same with lounges.

Hell yeah. Those lounges are affordable and I'd love to have one but there aren't any left to get to my knowledge.

Yeah but they only had to pay that 1 time and got 30 years out of it I believe.

It's a tough situation for the ones that actually came, but the shitty part of it was that those people kept getting the season tickets every year because they didn't have to pay the donation and then never came except for the big weekends. Lots of empty seats that no one could use.

I would say that is fairly accurate. I am not one of them because my kids were all playing sports in the 80s and we were just too busy for Starkville.

Anyone on here that goes to baseball games will be affected by it. I lost my season ticket source as a result and I refused to commit the $1,500 per seat because there are too many unknowns. One big concern I have is the cost is going to go way higher than $40mm. Then what? Where do we play while the stadium is being built? How many years before I would get tickets after a $3,000 contribution ($3,600 now that I have waited past the deadline)? I sitting and waiting.

They probably are. If one came available though, you would probably have to be in the top 50 or so in Bulldog Club to get one. You been holding out on us?

We are trying to build something pretty damn fantastic. We have to raise X dollars. If some people are exempt from fees for the new stadium, then others have to pay those fees for them. That also is not a fair situation.

I would do what I could for the original donors, but there are limits. Example: they get first shot at new seats in the new stadium for X. If they pass, the next person gets a shot at the seats for X + $1,000. The $1,000 goes back to the original donor, or they can use the $1000 for privileges elsewhere.

When you cannot be fair to everyone, then you just try to make the best compromise possible.

Their measly donation got them 30 years at the old stadium.

I think that's fricking plenty.

How many seats did you buy at $1,500 a pop?

I understand that. Plus, most of the original purchasers are gone or have given up their seats. If you weren't an original purchaser then you get no break. I probably attend as many MSU games as anyone on here except maybe some of the students that are up there for week day games. I have a place not more than a 5 minute car ride from the stadium. It's not just this but our AD has kind of taken on the mantra of screw the fan, we need to raise money. If you want it, you'll have to pay for it. I will still go; I just don't know where I will sit.

Yeah - those LFL spots are going to be free. And if you are a student now and aren't Tommy Boy, you will be out of college before you see the new stadium.

Good for you. I am just frustrated with the rising costs of even having property and stuff in Starkville and every time you turn around State wants more money just to get in the door. With property taxes, association dues, insurance, cable and crap and then you have to spend $1,500 a year just to get almost decent football tickets, it's just not worth it anymore. If I could sell my shite without taking a bath, I would do it. Unfortunately, RVs depreciate like a rock dropping in pond.
