I love these type responses. Before the season began last year who was talking about Preston Smith? Pretty much noone. But now that he's gone he can't be replaced? I'm sure we will have guys step up and make plays along the DL. Ryan Brown is one candidate but I'm expecting AJ Jefferson to have a big time year. And we have plenty of LBs to take up the slack for McKinney. McKinney had a nice year last year but we have plenty of LBs ready to go so I'm not worried about that position at all. PSmith will be harder to replace than McKinney. Gerri Green may actually end up being a better player than McKinney just young right now.

AJ is making Pike County proud. He'll be making big plays this season.

I honestly think replacing Matt Wells will be as hard, if not harder than McKinney just because it's hard to replicate that kind of speed at LB.

Ryan Brown is more NFL ready than Preston was.

The drop off that most expect us to have is mind boggling. It's not that hard to look at the roster and realize how much better shape we are in now than we were this time a year ago.

Actually, our turnover is about the same, the difference is that we aren't banking on wishing well wonders like Preston Smith or Beckwith to step up. We are filling gaps with talent, which is something that I'm not used to saying.

It will be interesting to see how that pans out. You have have a fast LB in Gray, but will also have faster ends this year, and you don't have Wells, so they can shift to a different scheme if they want. Wouldn't be surprised to see a more traditional LB lineup of Brown/Brown/Green.

I couldn't tell you how many times I've said that since our last game.
