Damn. If it weren't for his injury he's who I wanted to see on Sunday's. I really thought that kid had a super bright future.

Don't get me wrong, he still could have, sometimes you don't recover from that though.

Sometimes you get better, too.

You are correct.

However, I would think that it is a much smaller chance you get better than not regaining previous form.

Looks like roughly 4 of 5 major league pitchers make a recovery.

Close your eyes and picture Austin Riley playing 3B for this team.

This kid is 18 years old. How many have we seen come back from this successfully at State?

It's neither here nor there, I wasn't trying to start an argument, but it's definitely sad to hear for the kid.

Current Players:

Collins
Robson
Hudson
Humphries
Sexton
Kruger
Lowe
Houston
Brown

Recruits:

Walker Robbins
Mitchell Miller

I'm sure there are more in the recruiting section but that's a lot more difficult to find information on.

As for the current players, I listed almost all of the juniors. You never know what will happen with them. I couldn't tell you how many of our juniors have left over the past 6-7 years that I was completely shocked by. Granted it's all about having that leverage as a junior.

The younger you are the easier recovery is. I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just saying he has a good chance of making it back.

Off the top of my head, Bracewell and Paul Young both had it and made it back over the last handfull of years. I know John Marc Shelly had it and then basically disappeared off the map. Webb at SC is coming off of it though and is obviously looking pretty amazing, a lot of guys actually return throwing harder than they were before the surgery.

My best guess:

quote:

Collins - stays
Robson - stays
Hudson - gone
Humphries - toss up
Sexton - stays
Kruger - stays
Lowe - stays
Houston - stays
Brown - stays

Could see Houston going either way. He should be able to step into the Friday starter role, that is going to really do a lot for the probability that he improves his stock by coming back. Although he did have a big summer, which seems to be when a lot of draft decisions are made.

I could see some of the other juniors jumping too though, some of these young kids are already pushing for spots in the lineup. We are going to have some guys leave, just because we are so absurdly deep and have more talent coming in.

I agree. I think a lot of them should come back, but you never can tell.

The main thing for Juniors looking to get drafted is that they have all the leverage in negotiations as juniors and none as seniors.

Guess it depends on what it means to make it back. Paul Young made the roster but he never gets to pitch any meaningful innings so hard to call that making it back.

He is a senior.

Edit: Is he expected to get a medical redshirt for missing most of his SO. year?

Rough weekend to say the least. 2 bad innings killed us on fri and sat (as well as the great save by the a/m outfielder in the first game).

I guess the only bright side is we had good attendance?

What's the normal capacity at DNF now?

He's listed on the hailstate website as a junior.

Yeah getting swept is obviously bad. I was hoping to win 3 of the 6 for the Florida and A&M series.

If we can get 2 out of 3 against LSU we will be in good shape. The schedule gets a lot easier after that.

It happens. Just absolutely snake bitten this weekend. All their hits were finding the right holes, and they had a hell of a lot of them. Obviously doesn't help that we played pretty poorly.

Along with A&M smoking the ball, we were very shoddy in the field this weekend as well. Gave them WAY too many extra outs and extra bases to runners because of botched defensive plays. Umps seemed to be doing their best to screw us over this past weekend as well.
