I understand what Colorado and FSU have done in the portal. Again, is it sustainable or a flash in the pan? Hard to tell 2 weeks into the season. How will they look next year? Only time will tell.

Big weekend for Napier and his support at UF. If we lose this one and look bad doing it, this thread will explode as well as others.

Yep it's a big game. If things are crazy down the road this could be the game that sets the stuff off.

if he loses, that hot seat will become real.

he'd be:

0-2 vs Tenn

0-1 vs LSU

0-1 vs UGA

0-1 vs FSU

frustrations will rise not only with the fans, but the players have to get frustrated, too. you don't got 0-5 against rivals and feel good about it.

As much as beating Tennessee and other rivals is important, I really feel like we need to beat Kentucky this year.

Losing 3 in a row to Kentucky, especially when they look vulnerable on offense, would be

Exactly. It's why he can't be going 7-5 or worse in year 3 and losing our big rival games all 3 years. No coach has ever started like that at a big SEC school in modern times and survived that. I don't think any coach has ever became a top college football playoff level type coach either that didn't have a good season in one of their first 3 full seasons either. No 8-4 or better season your first full 3 seasons is unacceptable and would show you don't know what you are doing at this level.

I agree but gees people it's not like Napier took over a team that was 2 deep at every position. Mullen didn't leave much for Napier to succeed with. He has had to change not just the personnel on this roster but also the Culture.
That just takes time.
Now has he been perfect absolutely not there definitely things to complain about that we have seen. But florida has to give Napier 4 years. If in year 4 things are not improving then unfortunately there will have to be conversations. But right now no

I dont see how ppl can scream for Freshmen/Sophomores to take starters positions for better play and still blame last yr on BIlly.

You're seeing the level of talent Dan left us.

We used to hype up players now playing at Bethune and Temple.
Say that again out loud to yourself

I agree completely.

In no way in year 2 should anyone be talking about a hot seat.

Mullen is to blame for Florida's state right now. He didn't recruit well and the players he did get 90% of them were soft and didn't want to work hense the reason they are not here any longer.
Now I thought Napier could have and should have used the portal better. And unfortunately in some areas Florida is not looking like a well coached team and that part is on Napier.

I'm not expecting Florida to win today. I hope they do win it would be really big for Napier to win. Today. But to say he has not beaten a rival is true but its not all on him. Like I stated previously Mullen didn't leave him much to really work other than a few good lineman and a athlete at QB and 1 good line backer. Past that not much.

But for sure the one game he needs to win is at Kentucky. Can not lose to them 3 years in row.

But if he can get to 7 wins tjis year I really think that would be moving in the right direction and next year our schedule is brutal. With possibly starting a true freshman QB.

But everyone needs to lay off the hot seat. Not just for Napier but for the recruits we have committed. Can definitely not afford to lose Lagway!!! Plus Ohio state hasn't looked great either. So that will help with trying to flip the receiver getting him in here with Lagway will be a huge step in the right direction plus he may have to bring in a real OC as well. The jury is still out on that. But this offense needs to take a huge step today in the right direction.

I wanna win every game too but Im not firing anyone in yr 2.

It would take a lot of factors imo, crushing loses, lose the locker room and the class coming in ect
I dont see that happening

He gets year 3 but if he remains lost then that should be it. Today is a really big game to see if he can game plan or not. The chance of Tenn letting us just run it on them with 5 yards at a clip is pretty low. Does he call a passing game to attack their weaknesses or does he play in a box rarely sending 3 WRs down the field. Any coach should know Mertz will not have much time in the pocket with that style TN plays.

Come on Fever.
Our schedule is brutal next year with possibly starting a true freshman QB.
Year 4 is where I expect to see Florida really excel and do some great things on the field. Now if they do well next year I'm all for it but to expect that next year is the year. Not going to happen. Not sure what might be available QB wise in the portal but I'm all for going with Lagway if indeed he wins the job

Iverson Clement, who was hyped as a top RB, transferred to Temple in 2022, and last off-season, transferred to Bethune Cookman...to play CB

What's crazy about how much flack Billy got last year was that he finished with the same exact record (6-7) that Mullen/Knox did the year before, and with a harder schedule (Tennessee and FSU had re-emerged, and we opened with Utah instead of FAU).

lol.. No coach in the modern era has done big things that had 3 crappy full seasons to start things off. If you can't get an 8-4 record in your first 3 years at UF you dont know what you are doing at this level.

I agree with the call for patience, and also think year 4 (at this point we've stacked some talent), is when we might start to be threatening again.

But we have to be honest with ourselves: will our demanding fan base and recruits (who can be pretty fickle) give Billy that much time? In the era of NIL and the portal, where other schools are showing the ability for relatively quicker overhauls?

We don't have to be world beaters, but to at least keep the fans and recruits interested, we are going to have to win some games we shouldn't.
