I don't think we want or anyone is really calling Grier or Treon a "star."

There have been 3 star QBs in UF history!

We want a steady guy who can win games (Think more Leak, than Tebow, Danny, and Steve).

I think Treon can be as serviceable as Leak or 2012 Driskel. That's all you need with this defense and this new offensive-minded staff. Treon OR Grier can get us to 11 wins this year and the next

I should hope not to the first part. I'll still have to see Treon, though, because the year before he was anything but serviceable -- granted it was under a Muschamp offense that seemed to turn every single player that got under it terrible -- but man, Treon has just never impressed me. He's had some lucky strikes, but I've never seen him make a hit like Grier has this last year except maybe that wheel route in one of the first games. I'm hoping that he comes in and lights it up, but I think we're going to have to lean on our running game way more, and hopefully it's up to the challenge.

Sure, and I've seen him play this year and make the exact same mistakes he did as a freshman. Some guys are just not cut out to be quarterbacks -- he's short and mobile, but sometimes when the defenses you play are heavy hitters you have to watch out.

True freshman or not, he's seemed to not advance yet -- although it has been a very small sample size.

Again, I hope he comes out and blows it up, becomes our next star, but I have just never seen anything from him.

And Grier is not a bottom half of the SEC QB.

you're right. i just went through that without actually checking any stats.

he's probably 6th, he's 5th in rating but i wouldn't put him ahead of dak because of dak's running ability.

he is still middle of the pack, which is great for a rsfr, but my point in the previous post was that i don't think he's that much better than treon right now.

We are going to have a good idea if the 2 QBs are about the same or if one is much better . I think we are going to miss Grier more then some of you guys think.

He is. Trust me, if Treon was even close to being better than Grier he would have been on the field way more. It's kind of the same with Driskel. Treon and Driskel had bizarrely similar numbers on the year, but Treon had played fewer games.

This year, Harris might have a different look to him, but I haven't seen him do anything different so far. Doesn't mean he can't blow it up, but we will miss Grier for sure.

One thing that would help Saturday is if the OL keeps opening up lanes for Taylor like they did vs. Mizzou and Ole Miss.

Treon started six games last year btw. He didnt get to play in LSU game. He has more starts than Harris in the purple & gold.

I am of the opinion that this game is a battle of titans with both undefeated. I think LSU & UF will come out throwing....a LOT early on. LSU will find ground game ineffective and I honestly dont think LF will get many carries in first/second qts. Both teams will try to loosen up the other teams defense and then start leaning on them. Its either this scenario or we go to 7 OL to really help the run game.

We need to jump out early in this and get the crowd quiet. Really....we need 2 score lead 10-0 or 14-0 etc etc to put us in drivers seat and let our defense put a stranglehold on the tigahs. People are going to be surprised at the results of Treon early on. McElwain will be declared a genius and his aw shucks demeanor will win him a lot of admiration among fans and media.

I am going to get two for one on this thread and give my opinion of McElwain. During the late summer and early fall practices he was aw shucks and was really good at deflecting qb questions...really good when asked about specific players or what to expect from the team...."wow, it sure is good being at UF...how good is that? " type of reply and never answered anything directly as a rule. Even when we had success...he was the best Ive seen at really acting like nothing had happened and repeated the mantra of practices and getting better....great bunch of kids etc etc. He has grown on me a lot.

I know the SEC is shitting the bed knowing that they have a real good coach in Gainesville now and we are only going to get better. Recruiting for McElwain is going to be awesome with his demeanor in the living room and the team playing well...the Ole Miss game alone turned a LOT of recruits heads with the crowd noise and passion. I wish we had LSU at home Saturday just for recruits. Vandy & the girls school will be rocking. Recruits are going to find the inn is full if they dont act soon. We need good chemistry and no prima donnas...locker room needs to stay tight.

Better cover your monitors if you use desktops like I do...the kitty tears will flow out like a river after we kick their azz. Oh....they wont give us credit, not in their DNA. Our win will because their star LB had a hangnail, the FG kicker had a gnat in his eye, Coach Miles ate too much grass, moon and stars not aligned etc etc

You are being too generous, take ten and divide in half and then divide in half again. They will choke on their smugness soon enough....and you know I'll be the real sportsman and tell them what a fine team they have and all....or maybe not.
