4 star LB Levi Jones from Austin, Texas names Florida his leader. He will visit January 13th. That is the only OV he has set up for January as of right now. He announces his decision on NSD. His other finalists are Texas A&M, FSU, UCLA, and USC.

I think we land him, need help at that position. Hiring Shannon as DC will help imo

I worry that FSU may sneak in and steal him unfortunately.

Hopefully the new hires bring some oomph to our recruiting before NSD

Agreed. Especially at S, DT, and OL.

I really like where we are with our DB board and OL board.

Brad Stewart, Chris Henderson, and Brian Edwards, with a possibility of Devon Hunter on top of who we already have committed is a huge DB haul in a class where we very much needed it.

On the OL, we return a ton, have two 4 stars currently committed, and seem to be the favorites for 4/5* Tedarrell Slaton (who probably plays DT here), 4 star Kai Leon Herbert, and have a couple of more 4 star OL targets that we have a shot at landing.

Even the DT recruiting is in a pretty good place with Tyrone Truesdell likely joining the class, Tedarrell Slaton as previously stated, and leading for 4 star DT Elijah Conliffe as well.

Hopefully the hiring of Locksley, Shannon as permanent DC, and one or two more additions to the staff push us over the top for these guys and several others.

This team is a few yrs away from a 4 win season under Champ, and you expect a new HC to just snap his damn fingers and beat good teams like FSU and BAMA?

Muschamp walks in two years after a National Championship with the recruiting classes to match.

McElwain walks in two years after we go 4 - 8 with a loss to an FCS.

Muschamp continues downward trend with recruiting, McElwain magically produces two fricking SEC East Division Championships.

Our own fans melt harder than LSU fans when we win.

Also: I'm loving how those ''lowly'' three stars were blowing it up this season. Vosean Joseph looks outstanding and he's just a Freshman.

Can't wait 'til next year to see THE FLORIDA GATORS WINNING. Hope the rest of our fans can enjoy the ride.

10-4 and 9-4 (really 10-4 again) is the best 2 year W-L record at UF since 2009-2010.

And that's come in years that the offense has had to have been completely overhauled and rebuilt due to the recruiting failures of the previous staff on that side of the ball

Heard leatherwood wanted to come to UF came to the game and supposedly the Bama coaches hounded him the day before and all day on game day. Told him if he was going to decomitt he had to speak to Saban directly and he backed down. Attached is a tweet he sent out on the 1st.

Yeah he backed down from his decommitment because he couldn't tell Saban man to man. Either way kid wants to change but he is scared. Mac needs to get in his ear and tell him he has his back.

WM tried to turn UF into Bama lite. The problem most of us realists have is Mac is a supposed guru yet his offenses stink like WM and he's not pulling in the talent to make UF elite. He's got all his players yet we're 109th. FF or Trask couldn't beat out LDR or AA. We are a QB away. We're a coaching staff and 2 elite recruiting classes away. Mac won the East because WM left him Grier, KT21, and multiple high level nfl draft picks at defense. The East is trash. It had a 36-54 SEC record. Every team this year in the division had 4 losses except UF. How'd UF do against bama? 83-31. I don't call that success I call that manslaughter. You guys can hang your east banners next to Missouri and drink beer with them while the rest of us real fans wait for an actual coach to return UF to SEC champs while recruiting to UFs standards.

Actually, all of the contributors on offense are Mac's recruits. The problem is that all of our contributors are freshmen and sophomores and we got nothing from the juniors and seniors that were left by Muschamp.

You know that the plan was for them to redshirt. They weren't competing for the starting job and you know this. You're just trolling here.

How do you know that Mac's first one and a half classes weren't elite? You don't know how good or bad a class is until their junior year. And Mac's first half class is looking pretty damn good, and the freshmen who didn't redshirt are looking pretty damn good too.

You love saying this, but you're not revealing some unheard of secret or some hot sports opinion. We all know the east is terrible. But Mac is 11-1 against that terrible east. He's done exactly what he was supposed to do against him. There's a problem when you can only name two offensive players worth a damn that the previous staff left for the current coach, and one of them was kicked out for juicing. And the young guys on defense held their own just fine against South Carolina, LSU, FSU for most of the game, Bama for the most part, and Iowa. So don't give me the shite about not signing elite classes when you have no idea if that's the case or not. You have one full class that finish ranked 12th in the country to refer to.

quote:

How'd UF do against bama?

How did the 13 other teams who played Bama do against them? They're the gold standard of where we need to be. Nick Saban says it's a process and that's something Mac says all the time. How can you completely determine that Mac is going to be a success or failure based on two years with a back up quarterback? I'm impressed that we've been able to win 10 games a year despite having back up quarterbacks playing for us, and going to the SECCG twice in rebuilding years. You act like we're okay with where we are at. Nobody is content. But there's progress. That's what you're blind to and choose to ignore. It's a testament to the job Mac has done that all of his underclassmen are the only bit of offense we have. It's a testament to him that we are in a position to process senior OL because we have enough depth built up now when he took over with 6 scholarship OL. It's a testament to him to win so much despite the glaring roster deficiencies left by that "great" recruiter from the previous regime. It's a testament to Mac that he cares so much about this University and the players that he stands up to the boosters and admins to force them to spend money on facilities and assistant coaches to keep evolving and improving so we can get closer and closer to excellence and championships on the field.

So yeah, frick you. Because you're a troll who would bash Mac no matter what, even if he went 15-0 and won the damn national championship. I hope Mac wins every game he coaches because I love the Gators. And I can't wait to come back to this board after every win and be able to read back on the bullshite you spewed all offseason and all year and laugh at what an arse you made of yourself

On TOS the story is that Leatherwood wanted to de commit and when he called Bama Saban got on the phone and gave him the guilt trip routine about how Bama had turned other recruits away, honor his pledge etc etc and then had some players & other coaches all get on the phone with him to rally.

Thats a lot of pressure on a young kid. He should have been told something like " we understand Alex, why dont you think on this some more and weigh your option"? And then give him soft sell approach. Its pretty harsh to think of yourself as a HC instead of the player.

Hopefully he can re think everything and make a decision thats best for him. Right now I know he wants to come to UF...thats what is in his heart deep down. But no matter if he flips...we came awfully close....really close.

Mac and staff have been bashed by idiots regarding their recruiting and have no clue what our staff has been doing. When a kid is committed elsewhere you dont let news spread if he is interested in UF.

The peanut gallery gets restless because they are impatient and havent heard any news about recruits, so it is assumed the staff is sitting around doing nothing. What imbeciles some fans are. NSD will reveal all. in this age of social media the rumors are lightning quick. No one at UF revealed anything about Leatherwood...he went to the Outback Bowl and of course that triggered Bama real quick...hard to hide a 6'5" 320 lb kid in the stands

We've heard sob stories about recruits like Leatherwood for years and years about how they really wanted to be gators, and then they go somewhere else and beat gator arse for 3 years.

If he wanted to be a gator, he'd be a gator.

We need to stop making up stories that make us feel better about losing out on recruits.

It's not over I guess, and he could still flip, but pensacola rarely sends good gators to Gainesville right now.
