You would too if you were a head coach at a school with such a bitter rival. Imagine the rumblings around the program if he and Dabo were buddy buddy.

I saw something on Twitter about how if sumlin does get the boot that venables could be up for the hc job. Now I'm not saying he goes there, not even saying sumlin gets fired. But there should/ could be many programs looking for hc's this year and brent would get looked at for most. Clemson dl coach who recruited all the guys they have now left last off season. If Thomas thinks there's a chance that he leaves and takes some guys with him it could be enough to cast some doubt on his decision.

The "problem" with that theory is he's a midyear enrollee.

Now the Big Spur is actually advertising that they have info on the XT situation and ppl can access it "for $1".

It's nothing more than what I explained above. Peole are saying decommit could happen but nothing concrete.

Absolutely. They're also throwing in info about Steven Gilmore for that $1.

That's embarrassing.

Absolutely true. Again this is just me chasing the rabbit hole, which is all anyone's doing. However, assuming the doubt of the situation sits indeed cause enough concern to decommit, then he wouldn't know for sure either way til after ee signing day.

Y'all...tater fans are saying XT is trying to come to our game this Saturday. They are PISSED.

Not sure how much truth there is to it, but I'd say they know more about the situation than we do. Word from them is it's XT only. No KJ.

ETA: Ohio State is now reporting that XT may be reopening his recruitment. WTF?

I'm still skeptical just based on what rooster was saying...if he flips, the Taters will come hard because of their lost investment. Just hope we're clean. Then again...maybe XT just wanted to mega troll the taters.

Not too worried about them. Hopefully Carolina has enough dirt on them that if they were to try anything it would be mutually assured destruction.

Hahaha...Ohio State thinks they have a shot of picking him up. This is fun. Now that they've thrown their hat in the ring, the taters really ARE gonna lose what sanity they had left. Ohio State is running like Forrest Gump with this.

See what we did??? Bahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Well, the wife and I decided to drive back down and meet at the Cockaboose earlier this afternoon to get it fully stocked for Saturday night and then go have some dinner. A lot was going-on down there with banners (advertising) being hung on the light poles and music playing in the stadium (rap) and trucks unloading stuff in the stadium and forklifts running around everywhere taking stuff into the stadium and staff all over the place, etc., etc., etc.

So I had both doors open on each end of the Cockaboose filling the three fridges full of water and beer and stocking the liqour cabinet (runs us about $500 a game just in beer and liqour these days - beware, prices have gone way up since last year on liqour at Green's :::::sighhhhhhhhh:::::) ... but anyways, in walks a buddy of mine who owns a Cockaboose a few places down from us who is a big wig insurance guy up in Greenville. I've known him more than thirty years as he used to carry some policies for me back in the day. And the first thing he says to me (after not speaking with each other since the Florida game last season) is, "Hey Rooster! That XT kid is going to decommit from Clemson!"

So I stand up and shake his hand laugh and ask him if he heard it from a good source or just message board rumor stuff?

He said he heard it from one of his clients who is a big booster up there ... he felt like there was more to it than just rumors. As the story goes XT went to the Auburn game up there this past weekend and something happened, no one is sure what, but supposedly when asked where he was going to be this-coming weekend he sorta dodged answering the question and one of the Clemson coaches pushed him on it and told him he was hearing rumors that he might be thinking about attending the game down here this weekend.

So one thing led to another and evidently some doubts came out ... loyalty was questioned, hard sell was applied, then something happens and now who knows what is going to happen?

Evidently, and this is what I was told, XT may, I repeat may, (because my buddy is an excited fan just like everyone else and this is second hand at best) ... XT may be having some second thoughts about their depth chart up there and just how well he fits-in with those people. He may be thinking he committed too early. He may be thinking he did it for his Dad and not himself. He may be looking again at our depth chart and seeing a chance for some really early playing time and a chance to start down here.

There are a lot of big "ifs" involved IMHO, and I am still not sure how to take all of this but I will type that we may actually be seeing some smoke here - things are starting to add-up a bit. I know for a fact we've stayed in contact with him (and so has Ohio State and Bama) and I do know for a fact he's starting to communicate back a little bit ... because, there for awhile he had quit returning texts and answering his phone. And it's beginning to make me wonder about some of his tweets and the fact that mUSChamp retweeted that one after what I have now been told was a conversation with XT (fwiw) and I know for a fact, that even if my buddy embellished, which he has never been prone to do, there is obviously some concern coming from some big money connected boosters up there in the area.

So we'll just have to wait and see. If he shows-up for our game this weekend then it's definitely back-on and we're still in the hunt and he evidently doesn't care if the Clemson coaches like it or not.

If he's a no-show then I gotta think they turned the screws and applied pressure and will be keeping him under their control.

Either way, we'll know something this weekend IMHO.

So my wife left me shaking her head and I sat there way too long talking football and just got home a little while ago. But we're locked, stocked and ready to kick some Wildcat butt this weekend.

Don't forget to wear black y'all. Everyone was going around reminding us down there. Met the band director too ... Cormac something or other. Nice guy. Had some of his graduate band members with him. They are planning some special pregame stuff before the game around the stadium this weekend. Looks like the Gameday atmosphere through the park and around the stadium is about to get an whole new feel to it - should be fun.

Wow. Just...wow. What was a pipe dream may actually have some legs to it. And get this...

I got to talking with some of those Ohio State fans (they were actually very cordial...shocked the hell outta me) and more than several of them stated they actually hoped XT flipped to us bc of how Clemson would take it. They said as much as they'd love to have him, they'd enjoy even more seeing the nuclear meltdown the taters would have if XT flipped to their most hated rival, Carolina. I thought that was pretty damn funny..they despise Clemson so much that they'd willingly wish him to be a Gamecock.

If he shows up, I wonder what Dabo, with his no visit rule, would do?

Surely he'd pull his scholarship right?

My Clemson buddy tried to explain that shite to me one time when I called him out on it. Said Dabo viewed a commitment as being engaged.

Had a different Clemson family member say it didn't exist.

I found both answers hysterical
