Hosted by Creighton though.

With the recent sanctions coming down on louisville, can that possibly open the door for a shot at Dan McDonnell? From what I've seen, he's a super class act and who would want to share an athletic dept with petrino and pitino and all the bad press they bring reputation wise?
I dunno ... damn good question though. Wonder if Ray has any links to him?
Could be ... who knows? Maybe that's why there has not been any announcement yet? We're all thinking he's waiting on Sully, all the while he may be waiting on Danny Mac? Interesting idea.
ETA: Holy Cow the guy played on the 1990 Citadel CWS team right here in The Great Palmetto State! Perhaps he'd entertain the idea of returning to SC. He could have a home in Charlietown, on the IOP, be near old friends - cultivate new friendships, win National Championships.
I was living on the IOP in 1990 ... I remember that team well.

ot to mention that there are some among us telling Ray that it is time to severe the UF-hand-me-downs link.
I would hardly call O'Sullivan a hand me down and whoever is telling Ray this doesn't need to have anything to do with the search. O'Sullivan would be a homerun, and he is much more than a smokescreen. He is very interested in the job. Winning the CWS would make it much more difficult obviously. Bakich was never a real contender for the job. Let's be honest if we wanted any Big 10 coach we would get them. Coach from Louisville is a very very long shot and I wouldn't hold my breath.
O'Sullivan and Lee are 1 and 2.

Pretty sure when the CWS went to Omaha
Nebraska was still in the Big Eight
NCAA headquarters was still in Kansas City
Interesting tho now both NCAA and Nebraska are in the B1G footprint.

I still don't see UNiv of Neb as a big 10 school

Just noticed my thread bumped. Thanks for coming back and explaining. Sucks that we got losers outting you on here...I always appreciate the tidbits you share

So I think we have to assume now that Ray Tanner is seriously targeting Kevin O'Sullivan. I can't think of any other reason as to why we have heard nothing on the baseball search.

My BIGGEST worry right now is the storyline being sold on the recruiting sites is that we are going after Sully and Lee as our 1 and 2. The possibility of whiffing on both is absolutely there and the blowback to Ray if that does happen could be substantial. If you can't land your #1 guy in the sport that got you your job... who can you land?

I certainly hope we're going after a coach at a big-time program as our #1, but there must be a back up plan in place - an up-and-comer at a mid-level school who wouldn't turn down a job like South Carolina.
If we are targeting Sullivan and he turns us down, go straight for the sure thing. At least Ray can say he went big.
Despite what has been said about the football HC search in 2015, many people still believe Ray blew it on whiffed on a number of top candidates. Ray can't have that again, especially with his sport.

This is just my speculation, but I believe whomever will be the next coach is in Omaha playing right now. Whether that is Sully or not, I find it hard to believe we wouldn't have heard something by now.
Also, any insight on the reports of the Tater staff hitting up some of our commits? I thought that was a no no in baseball...

Anybody have any idea who Ray Tanner is interviewing? The only name I've seen is Mark Kingston out of USF.

I have lost all faith in sports writers ability to get a story. Kendall freaking Rogers at D1 supposedly reported, in a premium article that I'm not paying for but another poster at another site paraphrased, that winning a national championship will have very little to do with whether or not Kevin O'Sullivan will be our next coach. States that "other factors are in play" and that he should not be completely ruled out.
I'm quitting my job right now and becoming a sports writer. You can write whatever you want and no one can touch you.

Very few journalists of any kind are held to much accountability anymore. They don't really care how it affects the subject being written about, as long as it generates clicks for their site.
But to your point, it does seem like an easy gig and a lot less stressful than my day to day.

Yeah, as long as you get clicks, no one cares about the truth. Plus in that specific field, its either pure speculation about something that could happen or reporting something that has already happened. Its make believing and book reporting.

Didn't really want Walter. Felt we could do way better. Glad they locked him up.

You could go SEC Country style and just report on what others have reported and keep the same job you presently have.
