Well hopefully you can give him fashion advice for his interview process.

Down to earth guy. I would recommend him if necessary. Not the brightest bulb in the chandelier unfortunately. He was my lab partner in geology 101 or "rocks for jocks".

Word I am getting, and I cringe at the thought but at the same time I understand it is that ... Bentley is going to not only play this weekend but he may start.

Yeah Tony Morrell @ 247 said that he'd guess its about 90% likely. I need to check to see if he said that about playing or starting though.

Did Tony post that on a message board?

I actually thought about it just now after I had already posted it and the thought hit me that if mUSChamp sees that news being spread around he is gonna go apeshit looking for the leak. A head will roll.

Whatever. As I understand it both Bobby and Jake are good with it and Jake actually is lobbying for it to happen ... as well as a couple of the receivers.

From that one closed scrimmage I was able to attend, and I said this when sharing what I saw .... Bentley really does have the potential to be a big time QB. He moves well in the pocket, has a cannon for an arm but he also has good touch, plus he is not a bad runner. He's actually a very serviceable runner. It appeared to me that he had a good command of the offense, was able to read defenses and I was very impressed with how smooth he is at checking down his receivers not to mention that he does a good job baiting defenders with his eyes.

But how he performs against a hostile defense is yet to be seen .... if he turns out to be a '92 Taneyhill type it will be a miracle.

My source is usually pretty good so it would not surprise me to see him out there this weekend, starting even. This is the week to do it if you are going to do it.

I am pretty against this but if it means winning, I guess do it. It's just not a good look when you start 3 separate guys in the regular season.

I just don't understand how he can go from not seeing the field the first 5 games to starting.

Pretty ridiculous he hasnt played yet this season if he gonna start Saturday

Very much not on board with this development.

If he turns out to be a stud, great, but he'd still be a stud next season with another year of eligibility and a brand new season to work with.

If he turns out to look shaky like any other True Fr, then we just burned a red shirt for nothing.

Tony's Response: "Yes."

Well ... there is one thing about this that could very well happen. When mUSChamp (why my autocorrect does that I do not know) sees this is out he may nip it in the bud and decide against it just to make a point - he's done that before. He hates leaks.

My Son just told me that he heard Tony say it on 107.5 The Game this afternoon so word is out ... we'll see what happens. mUSChamp is gonna go apeshit.

The narrative since he got to campus from all "insiders" has been that Bentley has hands down been the best QB, he just didn't know the offense well enough to start. The hope was obviously to have McIlwain be good enough that we wouldn't need Bentley this year but that doesn't seem to be working out.

That has been my thought as well. IF (left capitalized on purpose) BMac could've handled the offense this year, then great. Let BMac and Bentley battle it out next season.

The offense is just as stagnant with Orth as it is BMac and Muschamp wants to win now. He don't want to write this season off. I respect him tremendously for that. We have a chance, albeit incredibly small, to still make a bowl game this year.

With that said, our OL is still going to suck so who knows if we can benefit from Bentley anyhow and that is if he is some kind of freshman phenom anyhow...

Not sure if I posted this so I apologize for any redundancy. I think the biggest thing on the horizon that can put us back where we were with those 11 win seasons is the 2018 recruiting class. We are in strong position with probably 5-6+ of the top 100 prospects in the nation for that class. The relationship/player development side is going to be there regardless. Our coaches aren't going to stop being themselves. Facilities will be well underway as far as the new Football Operations Building is concerned. What is going to be the tipping point? On field performance.

With everything that we have heard so far, even if Bentley does redshirt, it is very likely he would be the starter next year. The question is, with so much riding on next season, not only recruiting but the leash of the staff getting one more season shorter, would you want your starter having no game experience or have him come in with a half season of SEC football under his belt?

Yes Bentley is a special talent, but if our neighboring teams have taught us anything, i.e. UGA and Clemmy, success on the field helps bring in talent. If Bentley gets in there and gets the experience he needs, who's to say we don't get a guy in the 2018 cycle that is close talent wise? Joyner down at Ft. D just threw for almost 400 yds and 6TDs, not to mention the threat he provides with his legs. If he is the next guy up, he comes in and redshirts Bentley's Junior season and would be a RS So. when he graduates.

I want him to have live game experience. 4 of these last 6 games are at home and are a great way for him to get his feet wet before next year. If, and that's a big if, we can beat UMass, WCU, Mizzou, and upset TN, FL, or CU and make a bowl game, that's 15 more practices and 1 more live game to continue his prep to next year. I believe that is what our coaches are looking at.

That's the argument to be made for sure.

A lot of people, pundits included, still question Spurrier's decision to not let another QB get any playing time in 2014 which left us without an experienced QB in 2015.

Some claim Spurrier was all-about letting Dylan break the passing record in 2014, which he did, but at great cost to us in the long run.

I trust the coaches, but I'd hate to see him waste a redshirt. I just don't see the payoff for playing him this year being greater than his eligibility for another year. I hope I'm wrong.

You can't argue with her main point. The only time Brandon was in the game with all three of our main receiving threats; Deebo, Edwards, and Hurst, was the first half of Vandy. It does make a difference, but on the flipside, Orth threw the ball around against A&M in the 4th when BMac had not done it all game.
