I'll be pissed too. After last year though, I won't be surprised if they announce a move tomorrow.

School is slated to be cancelled in Aiken and the remaining CSRA in SC (Barnwell, Allendale) for shelter purposes as well.

LATEST FORECAST MODELS:

These are NOT good for SC, as it appears that we will experience significant effects by the majority of any of these predicted landfalls (Out of the spaghetti models proven to be historically most reliable). A close eye has to be kept on the effect the gulf stream will have on Matthew as some NHC prognosticators are warning it could remain a cat 4 and possibly even strengthen to a weak cat 5 instead of the weakening initially predicted. Because of the size of the storm, large areas will experience a minimum of tropical storm force winds as the field of tropical storm and hurricane force winds appears to be expanding.

Latest projection slows down the timing of the storm, but it moves east a good bit.

They better.

I really don't see a need to move it based on this latest track.

A lot of people criticize me for being way too chill during the build up stage of these storms, but I really think Nikki Haley should have waited until today to make any decisions about evacuations. I mean, they closed USC for the rest of the week....come on, now.

Bingo. I have a good friend who is a meteorologist in Knoxville, and he has been watching this thing. He told me on Monday that meteorologists always give the worst-case scenario, and that with a hurricane, you really don't have a good idea of what it will do until less than 72 hours out. He said the late Wednesay/early Thursday runs would tell the most.

The early runs didn't detect a high pressure system that is fighting against the low pressure of the hurricane and could push it farther out to sea.

Charlie Bloom emailed The Early Game on 107.5 this morning and stated that it was the University's goal and intention to keep the game in Columbia as long as the safety of the players and fans were not compromised.

there's a guy on a UGA pay board that is some kind of insider when it comes to TV/logistics stuff. Idk what he does exactly, and he doesn't have any inside info on recruiting or the team, but he's always on point when it comes to stuff like these. He posted that he will be sitting in on some big meeting about the game and a decision will come this afternoon (rather than the morning), so I'd expect this afternoon we'll know for sure.

I'm gonna be worthless all day I know that.

I've been thinking the same thing. Calling for evacuations and school closures on a Tuesday afternoon, when the storm isn't even projected to hit until Saturday morning, seemed to be jumping the gun a bit.

I get that resources are needed and it's better to be safe than sorry, but clogging up the roadways and inland hotels this early may cause more headache than is necessary. Making the call 48 hours out offers a much clearer storm projection and also offers plenty of time for evacuation.

My concern is that, with things looking as dire as they were yesterday afternoon, the ball started rolling to move the game before a decision was necessary. Hopefully we're holding out to keep the game in Columbia for as long as possible, but mounting pressure from the governor to move a game is hard to avoid.

ETA:

GFS throwing a curveball (quite literally) on the projections of this thing:

Poor Bahamas getting fricked big time by this model.

Yep ... now it's back to turning East. I figured. Wasted fricking trip to the beach yesterday, but better safe than sorry.

Our sorry-assed governor jumped the gun ... again. I thought she had something definite when she issued the order to evacuate. Hell, all she had was nothing.

A lot of our players are starting to tweet "See you in Willy B on Saturday night" messages. Looks like it is staying in Columbia for sure.

Not me. I will be riding the storm out at the house.
The wife and kids have left for the in laws in kentucky. So it's just me, liquor, and the animals.

You have to protect the animals from the Clemson fans.
