Is coaching or lack of talent more responsible for our offensive struggles?

Clearly this season hasn't gone the way we all hoped, but to be honest many expected a few losses on the schedule (as I did). However, I think it is troubling how poorly we are playing on the offensive side of the ball. It's bad. Really bad.

I admit I am no guru when it comes to offensive schemes, but I have been thinking...how much of our troubles are due to poor coaching and how much is due to just an obvious lack of talent from the QB position AND wide receivers?

Do you think a different coach/OC would drastically change the embarrassing football we are playing on the offensive side of the ball and why?

I think the coaching can absolutely be better and at times I get really frustrated at Richt and Schotty but then I see us drop pass after pass, WRs unable to get separation, etc. and wonder if our lack of talent on offense isn't salvageable from any coaching standpoint.

What say you GSB?

UGA sucks this year. The issues are across the board. The end

Talent is the biggest problem.

I texted someone last night. The score entering the 4th quarter should have been 7-3 and we still would have lost with Bauta as QB and Schotty as OC. That explains it all.

Let's see last season no matter the team we put an average of 38 points on the board, our Oline was all world, and we spread the ball around evenly with a QB that couldn't throw (good past 20yrds) to do it. And that was with a WR/TE/RB group full of injuries.

This season the QB sucks (ALL OF THEM), we do not spread the field despite having almost all of our WR & TE back, our Oline is all shite, and we can't seem to put points on the board.

Florida scored two offensive TDs, one defensive TD, and one ST TD. It sure as hell is not our Defense.

We are looking at the Offensive equivalent of Todd Frickin Grantham and Garner!!!

All the big programs pull from the same talent pool. So if you think 15 years of (mostly) under achieving is one giant coincidence given the (roughly) equal caliber of recruiting talent...well then I really don't know what to tell you.

Epic choke at SC, only got 28 vs a weak UT team, worthless 4th Q production vs UF, and couldnt get over 20 vs Tech WITH an OT possession. This was with Gurley and Chubb at RB, 2 proven sr's at WR, and a very good center holding the OL in place, and an offensive playbook everyone was years deep into.

It sure was, but it was no better than a 9-3 type offense due to the games I mentioned.

obviously being without your best player, being thin at WR and average at best at QB it is no the great offense we are use to.

That said, I think it is more coaching. We do nothing creative or difficult to prepare for, we are predictable, and we run a very limited amount of plays.

Haven't seen a tunnel screen all year, didn't see any type of screen against Florida. Our running game is very vanilla zone blocking schemes, rarely threaten the edge. We are not creative in getting the ball to athletes like Godwin and Mckenzie, we have no trick plays in the book and we no longer run any tempo offense which has been great for us in the past.

It is a confused offensive staff dealing with talent limitations but doing a horrible job using the ability and weapons we do still have. Scottenheimer has been a nightmare.

Same was said about Bobo and Richt before that, but they had better talent than this to work with. Maybe the coaching is a similar downgrade as you say though.
