Quite simply, that's not true.

a mandatory OOC game against another Power 5 conference team

This part would be good for the SEC to adopt though.

SEC has already adopted this one.

If we do go to 9 conference games, then UGA needs to figure out something with the UF game. Otherwise we would likely play 1 fewer home game in certain years than most of our competitors.

I can't imagine UF or UGA voting for 9 game schedules without some assurances from the SEC that they we get to keep our normal allotment of home games. If they were try to give us 3 true home SEC games in years FSU is on the road, it probably wouldn't go over too well with the administration.

Well, having an odd number of teams in each division means there's going to have to be at least one cross-divisional game at a neutral site

That is true.....unless we go to 16 teams.

Like I told another poster, the years you have 4 SEC Home games, you'll HOST your ACC rival. In the years of 5, you'll visit your rival.
That prevents, as you're wondering, having 3 H, 1 @ Jax, & @ FSU all in the same year.

The big hiccup with that is it's not going to be fair for whomever is the Away team @ the WLOCP.

Correct.

Even if you mandated that every SEC team must play a neutral site game you'd have to make that an opposite division opponent to make it the same for every team in the division.

Unless Florida/UGA are moved to opposite divisions that doesn't seem plausible.

I still like the idea of the roommate switch proposal with the four pods that recombine every two years to make two divisions. Failing that, the next best solution is to get rid of the fixed opposite division opponents (if your objective is to rotate through the opposite division in a reasonable time period). Keeping fixed opponents with 8 or 9 conference games means you take a very long time to get through the other six East/West teams.

I'd be in favor of 9 SEC games plus Louisville and saaaaay Western Kentucky and Marshall. Would like to see us rotate Indiana or Memphis on there too. We just added Southern Miss for 16-17.

Memphis plays Ole Miss now. I doubt they would pick up another SEC team.

I like a 9 game schedule and banning games against FCS teams.

And since we are 2-0 in our last two trips to Gainesville, I enjoy games at the Vaught Hemingway of Florida as well.
i agree they should make this the new permanent opponent so UF can take the series lead.

I talk to your idiot fanbase all the time, you have 3, that's right THREE crap-might as well be HS teams you are paying for home wins on your schedule this season. Then you whine about "we play in JAX so that's one conference game we don't get at home",, yea nobodys forcing you to play a conference game at a neutral sight.

You're always going on about needing those home cupcakes for "alumni day" and shite.. "But we have to play GAT every year.." yea nobodys afraid of GAT except for you. You idiots need to get over yourselves, you think we're bothered by a team that HAS'NT kept us out of ATL for the last 2 years?

The other P5 conferences have the same issues. And whining among college fans is gonna happen regardless of the system in place.

I think the neutral site approach could have a lot of extra benefits. Cities could bid to host one or more games, fans could travel to new locations, the SEC could show off its brand in new markets.

I say play 9 conference or at least limit the FCS games to one per year.

SEC gonna have to be bold to stay on top -- everybody is gunning for us. We can handle it
