Yes. It's also time to go back to 10 team conferences. Play everyone once and get rid of the conference championship game.

9 conference games, 1 P5 OOC, 2 non-FCS should be mandatory.

Better for the fans, the teams, the sport as a whole, and ratings.

Yes... I think we're the only conference with an 8 game schedule. Get with it or get lost

I may be wrong but with the BigTen change, all Power 5 conferences have moved to 9 conference games except for the SEC.

SEC & ACC are the 2 P5 conferences that still do 8 games. SEC really needs to change to 9 games.

WTF are you talking about? We played 2 top 15 teams OOC last year and had BY FAR the toughest OOC schedule in the conference...who are the UGA fans your talking about?

Would have loved to have seen Clemson and GT run your arse out of the stadium last year.

Are you trying to argue that UGA schedules weak compared to mizzou?

I've seen very few UGA fans say that we should not have 9 conference games. I've seen even fewer, maybe zero, say that we should not have 9 conference games due to our need to schedule a cupcake.

Some arguments you are likely misconstruing stem from: (1) A money standpoint: If we do go to 9 conference games, then UGA needs to figure out something with the UF game. Otherwise we would likely play 1 fewer home game in certain years than most of our competitors. It would cost the AD/Athens an unreal amount of money. Or (2) A fairness standpoint: We already play GT ever year, so it would be necessary to make sure that every school in the conference is required to play a P5 school every season as well.

I do not think I have ever seen a UGA fan make the argument you're suggesting. Contrarily, over the past couple decades, UGA consistently played a higher quality OOC schedule than most SEC teams.

You literally have no clue what you're talking about.

No.

That will just add to the scheduling irregularities (with an uneven number of games at home and on the road).

If the SEC wants to rotate through the entire conference more rapidly the roommate switch arrangement does that in only four years.

a mandatory OOC game against another Power 5 conference team

This part would be good for the SEC to adopt though.

quote:

elimination of games against FCS teams.

This part is stupid since the better FCS teams are better than most midmajors and some (bad) "Power 5" conference teams.

Not unless we get paid to do so. The B1G has a contract coming up. We shouldn't go to 9 unless a network ponies up substantial funds. We aren't running a charity.

No strong opinion, but I would say probably so. Only getting to see the non-gumptard west once every 6 years kinda sucks. Permanent rivals need to remain though.

Lol UGA played Clemson and the Orange Bowl winner in GT. We can't all play the South Dakota State Jackrabbits of the world.

It's actually sad that it requires legislation to get some teams to play anyone with a pulse outside of the conference.

Florida has been playing Florida St every year.
Georgia has been playing Ga Tech and others every year.
Kentucky plays Louisville every year.
We play Clemson every year and normally another power 5 school like UNC this year.
LSU, Tennessee, and Bama have been scheduling legitmate opponents yearly.

So why is it necessary to have a rule put in place? Guess it's the other teams that play one real team every 5 or 6 years.

Stay at 8 (6 division and 2 rotating). If Bama/UT, UGA/AU want to continue their rivalries, they can schedule it as a regular non-conference game when they aren't paired in the rotation.

OR

Go to 9 (6 division, 2 rotating, one permanent) with the caveat that one of the 9 is at a neutral site. That way, no one has more away games than home games.

However, I think we will stay with the current structure.
