quote: Don't think this is accurate. Mizzou was winning until there was :51 seconds left in the 3rd and UGA went up 4. To start the 4th, we ran the fake punt on 4th and 11 when our longest run of the day was like 3 or 4 yards. Y'all got the ball in our end, went 15 yards and FG. MU Punt UGA Punt (Neither team moved the ball) MU throws INT and UGA gets it at the 1 and scores. Up 14. MU fumbles and UGA gets it at the 5 and scores. Up 21. So UGA scored 24 points in the last quarter plus :51 seconds. And no, neither team was moving the ball much before that. Y'all definitely deserved the win, but MU was very much in that game until GP went dumb arse on the fake punt. And Jarvis Jones went mad man, to give him his dues.

Why did we go up 4 late in the 3rd? Because aaron Murray was on fire. Give him his dues as well.

meh, I don't really think that's the case. I think they just have an overinflated sense of their place.

Well, we were told that Mizzou couldn't compete in the big bad SEC and they've won back to back East titles. I'd say we can puff out our chest a little bit.

Mizzou was a very solid addition. AAU school and good athletics. Bet the B1G would trade Nebraska for them in a heartbeat.

looking at our depth chart I'm feeling cautiously more optimistic today.

quote:

1. Starting DE kicked off team f

"starting" yea ok, by default, but with the other young guys coming in and the transfer, Frazier, it's not at all certain he would have finished the season as the starter. We already had questions at DE, we still do, I'm not sure this really changes it that much.

quote:

2. Starting/preseason All-SEC DT out for season

probably but we still don't know, the broken bones could easily heal in time for this season, it's up to the ligament damage, what it is and how severe, we simply don't know, but yes he COULD miss the season.

DT unlike DE is not really a weakness in depth, we still have a good one in Augusta, we have a true star coming in, in TBJ, and we have kids like Winston, Logan, and Hatley that any or all may be ready for serious playing time now that they've been in our proven D-line system.

For all we know Odom might implement a new Cobra that uses Biesel or Agibasimere up front for a third of the time, I won't throw out the season on this one just yet.

quote:

3. Starting FS out indefinitely with injury

again w/ the "starting", ok, not sure if it's Sherrils or Browning, but Tavon Ross is already working out in shells, and he was always one of our best bets at Safety looking ahead. We have depth at DB so it's not that big of a concern just yet.

quote:

4. 3 of top 5 RB's out, two indefinitely to injury, one due to academics.

Hansbrough is one of the best, we may not have elite depth like UGA here, but we have an elite starter and the question is how much help does he have and if he stays healthy, not sure about the "academic" question unless it's Abbington finishing his juco degree and also if Steward will finally clear, medically, to play but we do have kids back there and NONE OF THEM would beat out Russell H, regardless.

quote:

5. Only return 1 WR with more than 3 career catches (he has 5)

certainly an area of question but the "young guys in the system" answer again applies, we have them, and by the truckload at WR and TE, we have so many that something is going to break open in this area, it just will have to.

quote:

6. Maty Mauk is the starting QB

No question this time, HE IS THE starter.. or if he gets hurt, Printz,, or Berkz or .. there is no question at all either that we simply need Mauk to be much better in areas of his game, we can all agree. Then again he was the QB last year and some of the year before when we did what again? oh yea, win divisions..

Keep in mind we also have a nearly complete returning starting 5 of senior OLinemen, don't under value that point in winning football games.
