This is finally the year it happens

1. Starting DE kicked off team for uncited legal reasons

2. Starting/preseason All-SEC DT out for season due to car crash

3. Starting FS out indefinitely with injury

4. 3 of top 5 RB's out, two indefinitely to injury, one due to academics. Down to the #1 guy, the #3-4 guy, then walkons

5. Only return 1 WR with more than 3 career catches (he has 5), and he's out indefinitely with injury.

6. Maty Mauk is the starting QB

Could be...

1. Hurts, no doubt

2. Killer

3. He wouldn't have been starting by fall camp anyway. Sherrills is a star in the making.

4. Could be an issue

5. Could also be an issue, but I like our talent here. Just low on experience.

I doubt we win the East this year, but I also doubt we "fall on our face". 9-3, 8-4 might happen though.

Now go look at their schedule and rethink.

meh, I don't really think that's the case. I think they just have an overinflated sense of their place.

5-7, 6-6 if they catch some breaks.

I enjoyed that Mizzou took the move to the SEC so seriously that it destroyed its basketball program so that it would better fit in with the conference.

Really? I think if UGA, UF or UT won the East two years in a row they'd be pretty happy about it. Would that be overinflated as well.

I think the main issue here is this...

1. The SEC thought itself invincible and head and shoulders above any other conference before expansion. Most SEC fans were convinced that there wasn't any other good football played outside the league.

2. For some reason SEC fans thought that aTm would bring the better team. Totally disregarded what Pinkel had done at Mizzou.

3. Mizzou had a shite first season due to a historic amount of injuries validating the top two thoughts.

Mizzou winning the past two years has challenged all of the above and a lot of SEC fans don't like it. So they say shite like our view of our program is overinflated and we should know our place. Nah, as long as GP is here we will be a player whether Yall like it or not.

They avoid Indiana this year, so they should do ok.

We have? Interesting.

It's already happened.

It happened last December in Atlanta in one the more embarrassing SECCG routs of all time. Missouri also went 2-6 in the SEC its first year.

Old news. It already happened in 2012. Up and on-ward.

Mizzou won 72% of their games their last five seasons in the Big 12. They've won 70% of their games their first three seasons in the SEC, and that includes their first losing season since 2004. We have the best coach in the East. We'll be fine.

Thats a negative..butted heads with coaching staff. Well known. Left on his own, not kicked.

Not necessarily starter. Just one of the few competing for it.

Also....I don't see any falling on faces yet?

Only a 0-0 record...like everyone else?

Beat me to it.

-Your non conference schedule sucks
-Vanderbilt is a dumpster fire
-Florida by its standards is a mess, and South Carolina might be the biggest mystery preseason that I can recall.
-State is solid, but you get them at home
-No idea about Kentucky either to be honest, but it's not like they are a darkhorse. You play them somewhat early on the road though

Mizzou will almost surely be weaker, but its schedule sets up nicely with 3 easy wins to work out kinks and half the East struggling

You're off the pace. UT and Arkansas already are 1-0 this offseason.

So being one of like, three SEC teams bringing back a quarterback with experience is somehow a bad thing?

I don't necessarily disagree, but I think the OP is indicating that Mauk took a step back last year. He turned the ball over a lot and was much worse rushing the football. Certainly, he can get better, but I think he will have to if Mizzou wants to win the East this year.

There fanbase is so delusional sometimes. They won the east in some of their more down years in recent past
