Don't lock down the state. Just get the best player from the state each year, assuming there's a D1 level player in the state.

Let's go dig up Rich Daly and get some more of those illegal Detroit players.

Denmon had offers from Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas State and others.
Dixon had offers from Arizona, Louisville, Marquette and Several Big 12 schools.
Both were Rivals 150 players.

You are too hard to ignore. Those aren't Duke, UK, KU type offers. Misssssouri is fine, they need to win some games and the recruiting will follow.

Dixon had better offers. Denmon had comparable offers. Both were top 150 Rivals players which is exactly the type of player I've been advocating to comprise the majority of our efforts. Rewriting history to say they weren't sought after recruits is wrong.

Dixon's offers came later it's not as though the Dukes and UNC's of the world were on him in 8th grade like they were/are with Tatum and Porter. I do agree though those are the type of players we need to get. The Cook and Snead type players. I'll also throw out my opinion that Dixon and Denmon had intangibles that had nothing to do with skill set. Major desire to win from both. Big time competitors, who knew how to work hard. Dixon was probably my favorite player at Mizzou and Denmon had ice in his veins. I see some of those traits in Phillips. I think if he can develop a shot it could really help him. He's not going to be a big time scorer, but he needs to be able to offer the threat of knocking down shots.

Phillips developed over his senior year in a big way. His play at the HS championships was exciting as a Mizzou fan.
He seems to be a great fit for what we needed. Let's hope his development continues.
I'm not trying to be nitpicky, but Sneed and Cook are a solid level to two levels above a 150 type player. They're legit 4 stars, top 100 type players. Landing either one of those players, let alone both, will pretty much end the "Anderson can't recruit at this level" talk (for at least a few months).

New name for 2015 is 6'7 3* SF Shaun Kirk from NC. Not sure why we'd need another SF, and at 185 he's definitely a 3 not a 4, but the kid does have a decent highlight tape. He can jump out the gym and reminds me a lot of a slimmer version of Gant.

Makes no sense whatsoever

That link says Kirk is a class of '16 recruit.

His Rivals profile is 2015 and the tweet I saw said he had been thinking about moving to 2016 but was getting good interest from high majors and would stay in 2015.

Here are a couple of lines that Bossi wrote about Kirk today:
quote:-
A legitimate Rivals150 type talent, what has held Kirk back is the question of whether he was going to enroll as a class of 2015 or 2016 recruit. Friday night, he made it clear that he wants to enroll as a 2015 kid.
"Right now I'm graduating in 2015," said Kirk. "I've qualified and I'm good to go and I definitely want to be in the class of 2015."

Man, assuming true, either KA has some cajones or we're just so bad no one has interest getting on this ship.
KA: D2 HC; some D1 experience as an asst but last century.
Loos: D2 Asst or something; 0 years D1 experience.
Fulford: High School coach; 0 years D1 experience.
Tate: JUCO coach; 0 years D1 experience.
Not saying I wouldn't like the hire but good lord, talk about going out on a limb when talking about experienced or proven guys.

Tried to make this point. Just doesn't add up to success in my head.

All I can think of is that by the time they have a shot at winning anything they will all have 3-4-5 years of D1 experience

Hiring a head football coach from that powerhouse Toledo a few years ago did not look that impressive either

Except Toledo is a D1 job, and Pinkel had consistent success there. 14 years of D1 assistant jobs, and 10 years of D1 head coaching experience. Arguably where the difference between mid-major to major is way more in football than basketball.

6'9 C Jack Lieb from Illinois sounds like he will be getting an offer soon. He's a 2015 kid with offers to Illinois State, Brown, and Boston U.
Is it me or are we shooting out a lot of offers for only having 1 open scholarship?

Probably conditional offers...."if this guy commits, its off the table." Or perhaps a preferred walk on status?
