Not sure if it means anything, but in the last day Pinkel, Woods, Phillips, Puryear, & Fulford have all followed Tate on Twitter.

Reading between the lines, it looks like he is probably the new assistant. If he can open up a pipeline to StL I am all for it.

If KA is nervous about dealing in the gray areas of recruiting, it won't matter who we hire. We won't get anyone out of STL of any import.

But I'm hopeful that Tate is the hire and that he can help us.

The good news is, IMO nothing in KA's past indicates he is nervous about the gray areas. He spent a lot of time at Mizzou when we were not clean. I have never associated the Iba coaching tree nor Baylor basketball as bastions of righteousness. I'm under the impression he got a lot of D1 talent (or castoffs) to go to a D2 school without a lot of history in BB. Maybe I missed something, but I don't see KA as unfamiliar with the gray areas.

Not a fan if it turns out to be Corey Tate. I wanted a legit D1 assistant. Not some Juco coach or AAU guy. So prior to their Missouri hires we have 1 coach who had any D1 assistant coaching positions. KA. And he left for a job at the Big 12 conference before heading to Cent. MO.

Just don't like it, especially when I think we will never truly get the STL kids to come here.

The rumors I've heard is that after several of the D1 assistants passed (Like Ray and Chew) we went to Tate because he's black, a former Mizzou guy (why we're so hard up for former players right now idk), and he apparently told KA if he hires him he guarantees us Cook and Sneed. Awful big talk, we'll see if it pays off or goes down in flames again.

That would be a game changer.

Rumors of Loos being connected to Lindenwood are starting to pick up some steam too, so we could still be looking for another coach this offseason.

If true then maybe Tate is his replacement and they will bring in a guy with lots of D1 experience as well.

I disagree. I think Tate would be a perfect fit. Assistant coaches are nothing more than a glorified babysitter. Give me a guy who is a players man, and has access to crucial recruiting territories and I'm happy.

But STL should never be an issue since its instate. That's like saying we need a KC recruiter and a Semo recruiter.

KC and STL should be lockdown recruiting areas for any coach at Mizzou.

either this is very well placed sarcasm or a flagrant display of ignorance.

That's the point. Mizzou has NEVER locked down instate talent. Hansborough= passed, Ben Hansborough= passed, Porter= passed, Beal= passed, Jorgensen (very underrated)= passed...

But we did get Marcus Denmon and Mike Dixon from KC, and we didn't have any special KC connection.

The thing I have heard about Tate is that he "will help with the STL market."

I'm saying, that shouldn't be a reason to like or hire him. Those things should happen anyway. Not just because a certain STL guy gets hired. Even if it isn't corey tate, I should still expect to get STL talent.

Just so people know, no one ever locks down their state. That's impossible, there's not enough roster spots.

Basketball recruiting is a national game.

Missouri can't even get the guys we need though.

If Tate can recruit great players and help Mizzou when should be the only thing that matters.

Agree it's impossible to lock the entire state............... I feel like that is blatantly obvious. Denmon and Dixon were very good to the Tiger program (other than Dixon's schenanigans at the end), but they really weren't highly sought after. The two players didn't have "better" offers. Both players were 3-star recruits that improved to 4-5 star talent. Mizzou has missed on every single 4 or 5 star instate player the last 6 or 7 years...

Totally. It doesn't seem like a lot of people get that though.
