Let's examine your scenario more carefully. It could have only happened either of these two ways:

1) We go 2 out of 3 vs UF/LSU/UGa and head into the Iron Bowl 10-1 with a legit shot at a CFP bid, then end up in a NY6 bowl and lose to a better team than the Fightin' Flecks
2) We still beat one of UF/LSU/UGa, end up 9-3 and play Minny in the Outback bowl and beat them

Nope, can't see either of those scenarios being worse than where we are right now. Winning against any of those three teams when they were at full strength would have given us more of a psychological lift than beating Bama, even though it kept them out of the CFP.
