I understand the strains of putting a schedule out years in advance. I mean, your AD might have to purchase software with a calendar that goes out to 2030 to be able to manage that. How does every other team in the country manage? Maybe they do it at noon on Saturday because they have night games in September.

Jesus Mary and Joseph.

Sorry - I still maintain that playing a good team at a neutral site is a more difficult endeavor than playing 3-4 win P5 teams on the road. We seem to differ in that opinion, and that's fine.

I've personally watched Alabama play 4-5 win teams over the last decade on the road. There is zero difference. None. Nada. Zilch.

So, forgive me, but I do not believe that there is any argument to be made that playing Oregon State, Rutgers, Illinois, Arizona State, an OOC version of Tennessee (that's every P5 team the teams above played in the last 6 years H&H, FYI) is more difficult than scheduling a P5 neutral site game against a Top 20 team.

We clearly disagree on that. That's fine I guess.

I prefer home and home and am glad we are doing them - but from a purely competitive standpoint, scheduling neutral site games against Clemson (08), Virginia Tech (09), Florida State (17), Michigan (12) and Wisconsin (15) is absolutely without a doubt a more difficult schedule than road games against Oregon State (Wisconsin), Tennessee (Oregon), Rutgers (Washington), Illinois (Washington) and Syracuse (LSU).

So, agree to disagree I guess. I'm hitting the hay, good chat

You know how scheduling is.
Some years, you might be facing a juggernaut FSU/Tennessee. Some years, they can't get out of their own way.

But you schedule the games.
You schedule them because your fans should go to Tallahassee.
Your fans should go to Madison.
Your fans should go to Blacksburg.

We don't disagree on the teams.
Everyone you schedule neutral would play you home and home. I promise.
As a matter of fact, they prefer it.

We disagree on the effort by your AD. We disagree on his misdirection and tactics of manipulating his fanbase.
We disagree on his success in scheduling (you are content with the last decade despite not liking it and despite knowing that all of those teams would travel home and home).

I say do better.
You say Auburn (who actually does better).
Simeon says GT sucks (but we do better even ignoring GT). Hell... GT has 3 divisional titles the past decade. How many of your neutral site teams won their division?

I always appreciate the late night chat.

Edit to add: I understand the money influencing the decision to go neutral. We get paid to play in Jacksonville. It is one of the perks.
But your fans deserve better than what your AD gives you.

Jesus Christ, what is your obsession with home and home games? You really think a home and home against Virginia somehow trumps playing teams like Clemson, Michigan, Florida State, and USC at neutral sites?

Well, to be fair, that AD is gone. And he was a buffoon. The new AD pretty immediately started scheduling H/H games.

And we were happy with the neutrals early (at least I was). But they ran their course.

I actually loved them. I missed a couple, but I had a great time at all of them. Atlanta is a fun weekend. Dallas is even better. Orlando was lame, but, honestly, we were hoping for a better opponent in that one.

I really hate the fricking low IQ posters on this site.

Wait. Is FSU a good program or 6 loss program? Is Michigan a good program? Or a 5 loss program?

By the way... FSU, Clemson, USC, and Michigan travel/schedule better than Bama.

I think most would agree with that.

USC has Notre Dame among others.

FSU has Florida among others.

Clemson schedules tons of tough home and homes.

Fun fact about the neutral site games. Bama was not the first team called for the original CFA opener. Clemson was. Bama was the second opponent scheduled. In subsequent games, Bama was always the first team contacted, with the understanding that the organizers would schedule the best TV matchup possible. That resulted in games against VT 2x, FSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, WVU, USC 2x (2nd game pending), and Miami. Unfortunately, later Atlanta games became more difficult to schedule and we got games like Duke and Louisville in Orlando. (Miami was already scheduled)

They were coming off a NC when the game was scheduled and were ranked #3 in the country when the game was played.

You tell me if that was good scheduling.

Having been to games against all of those, this is an absolutely false statement, and Wisconsin traveled better than any of them. Hell, VT traveled better than any of those, as well.

And you only say USC and Michigan schedule better because you want some credit for UGA scheduling ND. It's not going to happen. They are the most overrated program of the modern era.

It’s tradition for Alabama to play day games. Does Alabama not like tradition? If not, no need to play Tennessee every year.
