They should move it to Nashville, where an undefeated, ranked Vanderbilt will host #1 Alabama

they thought about that but figured there were more Vanderbilt grads living in NYC. That's why they are having it there.

Seriously though there are probably a million people in NYC right now that are nothing but tourists. People from all walks of life. Some of those same people get up at 5am hoping to be seen on the today show. Those same types will be there for gameday. I doubt many will be residents of NYC but rather tourists wanting to see times square and have the chance to be seen in the background gameday. I think it will be a good place to have it once. Gameday is cool and all but it causes a clusterF*** bottleneck for every campus they showup at. Will be no different in NYC

There are more CFB fans in New York City then any other market. Now due to population the % of the TV market is only around 15% iirc but they have over 3,000,000 fans that watch college football every Saturday. I think Atlanta is 2nd. The UA Alumni Assoc has over 6000 alone in NYC.

"New York is the melting pot of college football." SAY WHAT?

Translation : B1G has the most alumni as a conference up there so now with Rutgers and Maryland we want to be in the eastern corridor to make Jim Delany happy. Since broadcasting from a Rutgers game would be sad, we are just going to say New York.

You should see Chicago on college football Saturdays.

There are tons of people from different schools that go to the predetermined school sponsored bar. Its actually pretty cool.

Im guessing new York is somewhat like that

Yeah you left out a key word. Didn't say it was the melting pot of CFB. Said that it was the melting pot of CFB Fans.

So they're taking it there knowing no one there gives a shite about CFB? Makes sense.

Yeah, after living in Manhattan for two years, I realized that college football saturday's are pretty badass up there. There is at least one bar (sometimes 2-3) for every University and they get pretty crazy.

Obviously I would rather be at a tailgate somewhere in SEC country but I was amazed by the amount of fans Manhattan has and especially the variety. I actually am pretty intrigued by this gameday location.

Got a good friend that lives in NYC that graduated from Bama. He's in the alumni association there and they have watch parties and stuff. Seems like a good time.

Yeah, I lived in Philly for a season, and I'd take the train to NYC for some Ole Miss watch parties. About 100 or so Ole Miss fans there every game.

New York is a pro town. You have more college football fans in Scratch Ankle, Alabama (yes, it's a real place) than you do in New York City.

New York is a fricking melting pot of people from all over the country and the world. Tons of college football fans up there, it's just a very diverse group of college football fans.

There are over 8 million people in the city itself and you're arguing that some backwoods town in Alabama has more CFB fans lmao good grief

Hell, word reached my ear living up there that the Bama watch parties were wild as frick. As many Ole Miss fans I saw at NYC watch parties, I'm willing to bet their's is 3 times bigger.

or, instead of going to some tiny school with a fanbase that no one cares about, they go to a place where there are fans from every single major college fanbase in the country to interact with one another

For some generic thing, I guess. Why not go to Dallas or Atlanta every single week unless it's a top ten matchup if you value that?

There is so much to show case in college football, and I think they are missing out on countless opportunities.
