There is a big concern with our O struggling vs GSU.
Perspective is everything. Our O didn't struggle against GSU, but at times our OL didn't dominate like you'd hope them to dominate. We also didn't have the biggest weapon we possess on O for the game. We won't drop 50 on Clemson, but I suspect win or lose the confidence in the O going forward for this board will be tangible. IMO the OL we put on the field Saturday was better than the OL we played with last season. That same OL played affectively at times against Clemson last season.

People think the only reason to be vanilla on offense in a game like Ga Southern is to keep Clemson from seeing what we're doing. But I think another reason is you shouldn't have to do anything special against a team like that. And when you don't have to do anything special, it's usually a good idea not to.
That's what I like about Gus. At times he recognizes that something works so don't deviate from it. Like 2013, everyone thought we had to throw the ball but we just kept running it down people's throats. If it works, it works.
Now before I get jumped on about the last paragraph, I do recognize that Gus also gets way too flashy for no apparent reason at times (last year's Clemson's game comes to mind)

We were without our best offensive weapon against Southern. Excited to Pettway run this year. Guy is an absolute beast, and no doubt our offense wasn't the same without him last year. He will have his work cut out for him against Clemson's d-line though for sure.
For people that watch the o-line a little closer than I usually do, how did they look run blocking? I know there was some struggles in pass protection, and we have two new guys on the left side. How do you think they fared overall? I still feel like we have some guys on the o-line that man up with anybody in the country and open up a hole for our backs.

Out top two running backs both ran for 136 yes and a TD. Team ran for 350+ and avg 6.6. Top two averaged 9.7 and 8.5 ypc

Those running stats say a lot, assuming we were without our #1 rb and and without our #2 more than half the game.
I think we will be able to move the ball just fine running with Pettway. Stidham is very accurate, so hopefully we can call some short quick passes to get first downs and keep the chains moving, even if they are getting pressure.
I think the game will come down to whether we can capitalize in the red zone and avoid turnovers. Defense alone should keep us in the game. 21 points might be all we need to win.

Oh... and frick YOU JAY JACOBS for scheduling Clemson in the first damn place. You could have at least scheduled an OOC away game somewhere interesting. Georgia plays at Notre Dame this week. Now thats an interesting trip.

Are you saying that playing Clemson 6 times in the last 10 seasons is not interesting?

They did well. Smith and James created some huge holes. I would also say that GaSouth had decent DL for their level. Better than most at that level. If we can run the ball against Clemson it will help the Pass Pro issues. IMO KP is a decent blocker as well, so that should help if they need him to stay in to assist.

Not judging either team after playing cupcakes. If we win it will be painful seeing all the negas flip script an act like they knew it all along. 3 point game either way since they have HFA. Thank god its not a 12 or 330 game.

You know, thinking about this game some more and everyone's focusing on the OL pass pro struggles and Stidhams pocket presence, rightfully so. Both OLs are going to struggle IMO and any turnovers will be huge.
But thinking back on Bama-FSU, our special teams from Legatron to Shannons punting/protection to KO coverage and not fumbling any KRs needs to absolutely be on point 100%. It won the game for Bama. No doubt Dabos Bama arse watched the FSU game and is probably thinking he'll pull some of the same shite Saban did.
