Auburn should let him speak on these conditions:
You can only speak at the football complex
There will be no police to protect you
Your only audience can be the defensive line and Cam Pettway
Your topic of speech is how you hate all blacks and wish you could start slaver again starting with them

I was moreso addressing the false dichotomization that you presented of this being an issue of "conservatives" versus "liberals," that only liberals would take issue with Auburn's allowance of this man having a university-provided platform. There are many open spaces on the campuses of such public universities that would give someone an area to speak freely as protected by the First Amendment that do not require the universities in question to give an appearance of endorsement. Let him be with the street preachers so he will be treated like the street preachers; that is, ignored and best and otherwise ridiculed.

I agree with your stance on free speech. Just so we're clear, though, Richard Spencer is a faux intellectual troglodyte with a message that any person of sufficient intelligence should dismiss out of hand.

I'm thinking this whole thing will be a non-event at Auburn. Just a bunch of blowhards trying to cause a ruckus on campus and getting folks all riled up for nothing.

I agree. It'll feature Spencer essentially performing autofellatio on stage in front of his simpleton followers and a few traveling marxists handwringing outside. Might have a few unfortunately misled Auburn students and some who are excercising their peaceful protest rights.

Sure... if a comparison is necessary for you, that's fine. I'd say Spencer's message is more explicitly stupid, but that's debatable.

I am a conservative/libertarian who holds sacred the right to free speech but have no issue with the university as a public institution refusing to provide him a platform for attack speech. I would expect that my calling the Bill of Rights a list of "negative rights" would process in your mind, as in the mind of Rush Limbaugh, as an insult to the Founding Fathers?
