A few of you still playing obviously, but thought this was interesting while we have SEC hoops fever.

I saved KenPom's end of year numbers last year and preseason rankings this year in a spreadsheet and used the same formula in reverse on the current rankings.

This assumes that all players projected to go in the first round (DraftExpress) declare. It also accounts for high profile transfers and top 30 recruits (all he uses). Obviously Porter is going to have most impact, then Sexton, all the way down to Witherspoon.

This is what it spit out. Obviously some recruits haven't decided yet and there are always some surprises with transfers and declarations. Here is what it spit out.

1. Kentucky
2. Florida
3. South Carolina
4. Alabama
5. Arkansas
6. Texas A&M
7. Vanderbilt
8. Tennessee
9. Mississippi
10. Georgia
11. Mississippi State
12. Auburn
13. Missouri
14. LSU

Decent size gaps between 2 and 3. Another gap between 6 and 7 and a huge gap between 13 and 14.

1-9 are projected in the top 68 and 1-13 in the top 100.

LSU should be improved no doubt but the league looks very, very strong on paper.

I think we have outperformed our preseason SEC rank for 5 straight years so we will probably end up 5th or 6th if I had to guess

If Blakeney, Reath, and a big man or two from SOMEWHERE don't appear we will for sure be bottom 3 again

2018 will be the best the SEC has been in awhile

State will be one of the 6 best SEC teams next year- and I expect 8 to make the Dance. Lots of young teams in the SEC this year bodes well for the future

LSU is easily the worst team on paper. Every other team will have postseason aspirations

The league looks very, very good when you look at the projected rosters.

Good post, but Dazon Ingram will almost surely start instead of AJ Jr for Bama. I think the SEC could get a lot of teams in next year. A lot of fanbases expect to be in the tournament next year also.
