Precisely. Tech will never keep us out of the SECCG. The path to Atlanta will always go through Jacksonville. The winner of the UGA-USCjr game didn't even necessarily dictate who actually went to the Dome during the Darth Visor era, despite its temporary status as a rivalry game.

I'll stand by my assertion that, in this day and age, UF is our main rival.

Correction, they've won 2 of the last 3. 2014's win in Athens was sheer force of will/stupidity of CMR to give the game away. 2016 was hardly a definitive victory, either. They haven't won by more than a touchdown since 2000.

Please,they rushed for almost 400 yards against us and we fumbled 2 times inside their 10 yard line. GT also went on to roll up 49 pts vs a top 10 MSU.They were the better team that day.
CMR made some dumb mistakes but absurd to pin the loss soley on him.

I think of everything I've argued with dawg fans, including my desire to fire Richt for god knows how long, that this rivalry arguement has been the one I've made most. It's Georgia Tech. It always will be Georgia Tech. All these god damn Mille ails who argue otherwise are shite birds. There might be old people who argue it to but I too am a millennial and stopped listening halfway through their argument.

when I was ma kid, my dad would take my brother and me to the JV Ga vs Tech game on Thanksgiving almost every year - we never got to go to the real Tech game that would always be the following Saturday
we knew that we had officially "grown up" when we got to go to the Tech game
I would LOVE to have the gnats back in the SEC - would make our game more meaningful, but they are still our biggest rival

And I think that's a big part of the issue. Most of the people who claim UF is our biggest rival are 30 and under (not all of course, I know hinesville is a grown up). These are people that from the time they were born until present they have mainly only seen us lose to UF so they have that seed planted, while likewise seeing us beat tech most of the time. But the team you hate most isn't the same as who is UGA's biggest rival.

Too many people confuse biggest rival with who owns you the most. 2 very different subjects imo.

exactly right, and UF only "owns" us as of late. This entire rivalry is cyclical. 50s and 60s they had our number. 70s and 80s we owned them at a similar clip to what they would do next. 90s and aughts they owned us again. The teens are practically dead even.
clemson owns SC but you won't find a fan of either school that wouldn't say they are each other's biggest rival.

Tech is our biggest rival I get that they are not in our conference but losing to them is demoralizing and watching them tear up the hedges makes me hate them even more. Growing up my dad made it very clear that it was always a great thing when we beat tech in any sport and losing to them is unacceptable
