It's the Gators and it isn't even close for me...or anybody else that doesn't live in metro Atlanta...without the WLOCP...we would roll to the SECCG every other year...they are despicable..i hate them...as someone else said...the colors orange and blue make me physically ill...their mullet sporting jort wearing fanbase is the most obnoxious in the entire country...if a bomb dropped in the swamp on gameday on Saturday in the fall...the world would be a better place...

Now, as to your other question, you hit the nail on the head that it will often vary by location. Columbus folks will lean Auburn, Rome/cartersville area people might say UT, Augusta folks probably hate SC more than anyone, Valdosta folks will say UF, etc. And that's all perfectly fine! Everyone's own personal opinion has merit.

But when you're asking "Who is UGA's biggest rival" there is no wiggle room or gray area depending on where you live, that is a constant, unchanging reality that will remain so throughout eternity. And the answer is tech.

It's likely a product of the times, but it's Florida and not close for me. Florida was the best athletic program in the fricking world when I was 13-18 years old. Tech was a shitty team that we beat every year.

I'll be honest, tech is playing pretty much anyone and I'm not even watching or paying attention to the score. Florida plays and I'm watching solely to cheer against them.

The east has only existed since 1992. How can a school be "UGA's biggest rival" if that designation can change in the breeze every so often due to different circumstances? That's not how it works. A school's biggest rival is their biggest rival, period. Forever. It doesn't change on a whim.


I heard a pretty good explanation a while back that I like. Tech is our biggest rival (obvs) but we have cycles of having a different main "nemesis". In the early 80s you couldn't find a more heated foe for us than clemson. Throughout the entire 80s we had some classics with AU, they kept us from being SEC Champs several times and likewise we did the same to them. In the 90s UF and UT owned us so we turned our hatred a bit more towards them. Over the last 10 years SC has been a thorn in our side and caused us some trouble. Just because all of those teams may have surged up the "teams we hate more" rankings doesn't change the fact that tech is still our biggest rival.

Saying that Tech is our biggest rival is like saying that North Korea is the USA's biggest rival. It's simply not true. We despise Tech. We feel sorry for Tech, at times. But Tech has not been UGA's biggest rival for many years. Some of you people are giving Tech way too much credit. We have much bigger fish to fry than The North Ave.Trade School.
