Same family but not the same. You want to go to the original on MLK boulevard across the river from Tuscaloosa in Northport. Less than ten mins from downtown Tuscaloosa. Ribs then pulled pork or whole chicken. It is worth it. Unquestionably the best in Tuscaloosa.

Dreamland's is Sonny's with a different name.
Agree with the sentiment of get a white loaf of bread and dip it in their sauce. There's nothing special about the pork.

The Archibalds I ate at was behind some dudes house, and a black women was slinging me ribs off the smoker. Not bad. The Last time I ate at the orginal Dreamlands, they dried the ribs out. Haven't had good luck there. I enjoy full moon.

U can't go bad with full moon either. Alabama has so many u have to really stand out.
The best in alabama is a place called the rocket in jacksonville alabama. They have a smoker they've used since 1950 something. They Keep a load of burning hickory in that fricker.
Around b'ham it was tin roof. Have no idea what happened to that place. U had to shoe horn folks in there. It was better than anything ttown has.

I need to try Archibald's.
I thought Dreamland was okay but certainly not worth going out of my way for it. But honestly I'm sure that's true for a bunch of "legendary" college town restaurants. Once they are popular enough to make 3-4 of them around town, the quality generally suffers

don't waste your time on dreamlands.

Depends on which location you go to. The one in Northport isn't like that at all.

Yeah I like Full Moon. Their sauce isn't amazing but, they have good BBQ and literally everything else under the sun. I thought you guys had like 2 other BBQ places by the stadium or something that were good too. Maybe Im just mis-remembering.

Tuscaloosa has shite BBQ. If you want good food in Tuscaloosa, eat at Post Office Pies, Five, The Avenue Pub, DePalmas, Waysider (breakfast).
If you want good BBQ, go to Birmingham and eat at Saws. You can also try Robertson's in Ralph southwest of Tuscaloosa just off of 59. I've heard good things but have never been.

Just curious of how the Rant likes Dickeys BBQ.
I know it's a chain out of Texas, but the ones around here are OK to me.

The only way you say that is from not having had an Archibald's rib in your mouth.
If anyone goes to Tuscaloosa for a visit and doesn't get a slab of ribs from the original Archibald's, they're doing life wrong.
