I went to Archibalds years ago...ribs were tough. Seems like He had BBQ and it was sliced?? not pulled? Anybody know if it is still that way? Sliced pork is some yankee way of doing it to me...nasty.

Dreamland's is Sonny's with a different name. Agree with the sentiment of get a white loaf of bread and dip it in their sauce. There's nothing special about the pork.

Dreamland is perhaps the most overrated BBQ establishment in the history of overrating BBQ establishments. As for Sonny's, I much prefer Sonny's over Dreamland. Sonny's is decent but not great unless you go to the original Gainesville Sonny's which is FAR better than the franchise Sonny's. At least Sonny's has good sauce. I am not saying Sonny's is fantastic. I am saying Dreamland sux.

Moe's

I love me sone Moe's. The one in Orange Beach is good and so is the one in HSV at Providence Main. Their smoked turkey sandwiches are fire.

I like their squash casserole as a side too.

I could eat two of their sandwiches right now. That's all I ever get anymore when I go there.

Moes probably has the best ribs (and definitely the best chicken wings) in Tuscaloosa.

That looks like the Hicks in Northport

It is. Their pork sandwich is still as awesome as ever.

Big Bob Gibson. It's in Decatur, Al. Go get their brisket and mac-n-cheese.

Big Bob's chicken is pretty damn delightful as well.

I've only been there once unfortunately. I need to go back though. Can't even describe how good that brisket was.

And it's not all that great. I was always disappointed with Alabama bbq for how big a staple it is.

Ehh if you want to get off the beaten path, there is some exceptional BBQ in Alabama. Top Hat in Blount Springs, Green Top in Sumiton, Whitt's in Athens. . . .

Ten+ years ago Tuscaloosa had a plethora of great local barbecue shacks. The passage of time and the vagaries of weather have changed that drastically. Only a handful of those type places are left. Tuscaloosa in general is moving from a mom-and-pop style town to a larger, more big-chain-driven city.

I'm not sure where it is, but My Dad always talked about Green Top Bar-b-que. I have a lot of family that live up around B'ham. They always talk about it. I asked them about Dreamland, because I have always heard about it. I didn't get one good response about it.

Went to Dreamland last year and was pumped to go. The atmosphere was great, sauce was good, but ribs were the worst I've ever had at a Q joint. Left very disappointed.
