I would assume the answer to your question is "yes."

Again, IF IT'S TRUE. I am just a dude repeating rumors like a 15 year old girl, here. All I know is someone started a thread on ITAT saying he had heard this about Landon. His post was deleted within minutes.

Again, no idea if it's true, and I am not going to say the "word" of what he's (supposedly) accused of for that reason. I just found it interesting that at least one poster came out and said this out of the blue yesterday and today we hear he is gone.

His supposed crime did not happen at AU, but is something he brought with him from HS. That's the rumor.

I guess we'll have to wait for the bammers over at AL.com to tell us the real story.

I also heard Cam Martin was involved.

The rumors on PM's website is that this is something that happened before he got to AU. So, it sounds unlikely Martin was involved (unless they had a previous relationship in HS).

Martins from Texas, so not likely.... probably someone trying to be a smartass bc he came from Baylor.

seems like an indictment should be coming soon if it happened back home. Didn't he enroll early?

Can we at least keep him around until that girl comes to talk to the team on our bye week?

How many people left this season so far? Good grief.

Also, maybe the woman giving the rape awareness session during fall practice really was more than a logistical inconvenience to our proactive efforts. Maybe she was reactively called here for whatever incident that got Rice in trouble.

How bad can it be if he hasn't been arrested?

Have you read recent news?

Things that used to be crimes are now college administrative proceedings because in the former you need proof beyond a reasonable doubt and in the latter all you need is an accusation.

Not saying that's true in THIS case, but its happening in colleges all over the country this way over the last 7 to 8 years.

Doesn't apply to high schools though, if this indeed happened before Auburn.

Check the main Rant board. Dude with 1 post stopped by to say he knows Landon's family and these rumors are not true. Says there was a "disagreement" between Landon and AU and they decided to part ways.

Again, more rumors. It looks like us message board plebes will never know the truth unless Landon speaks or is arrested, etc.

I replied to it earlier. Guy had too many exclamation points to take him seriously. His family could be saying anything. If he didn't do anything violent or disgusting, they would be singing a vengeful tune, and not the usual bible loving crap.

You need a preponderance of evidence meaning is has to be more reasonable than not that it occurred.

Essentially the difference between OJ criminal and civil lawsuit verdicts

Last year there were a bunch of kids arrested at Calhoun HS for an incident at a party after prom/graduation, one of those. Guys drugged at least one girl, and you know the rest. LANDON WAS NOT INVOLVED WITH THIS PARTICULAR CASE.

They were older than Landon, and I thought it happened prior to even his arrival at Calhoun.

It is still an extremely raw subject there I imagine. Maybe this is one of those false alarm deals. I hope so for Landon.

I don't know more than that, but it is some background to the story.

Except in most cases (1) they do not allow the accused legal representation, (2) if they do allow the accused legal representation, they are not allowed to be present, (3) if they do allow the accused's legal representation to be present, they are not allowed to question the accuser, and (4) in many cases are not allowed to see the "evidence" against them in order to be able to respond to it.

Because of Title IX and the federal government, the entire extra-legal process is skewed to trample the rights of the accused.

If sexual assault occurred... if rape occurred... if either of these occurs ANYWHERE, such an incident should not be in the hands of biased college administrators. It should be reported to the damn police and if the accused is guilty they should go to fricking jail. Additionally, in the vast majority of these cases, overuse of alcohol is involved.

In a huge number of these cases alcohol is somehow involved and the accuser (usually female, but sometimes male) is always given the benefit of the "he/she didn't have the ability to make an informed decision under the influence of alcohol" doubt (i.e. "yes" did not actually mean yes because they were drunk and after they sobered up they really, really regretted what they said "yes" to). But, oddly enough, if the ACCUSED was equally under the influence of alcohol and heard "yes" and thought "cool, he/she said yes!", he never seems to be given that same benefit of the doubt.

College extra-judicial panels in almost all of these cases are kangaroo courts set up to railroad the accused. Your description above of the O.J. civil trial couldn't be less apt if and until these college give accused persons the right to face their accusers and adequately defend themselves from the accusations.
