We had a big Rolling Bulldogs cookout Saturday evening. Probably 50+ people. Food was great but discussion was somewhat subdued. Some of the folks are taking their RVs to Foxboro and several are stopping at Provo on their way back from California. Can't say I would drive to an away game to watch this team without major improvement.

-Finally have a run game
-Linebacker play is greatly improved
-No dropoff at punter
-Won a game after blowing a 2-score lead late
That's it.

I fear to even know how things are going in Starkville right now. You play South Carolina at home this Saturday on ESPN/ESPN2 at 6 p.m. and then head to LSU the next week for a 6 p.m. game on ESPN2. You guys will potentially be on TV for everyone to see. It will be interesting to see how both your program as a whole and the media try to spin it. Do you think the team has given up, or have they tried to readjust the mindset to regroup?

Alabama's defense did nothing fancy and was still dominant, the offense was out of rhythm and scored a bunch of tds, we seem to have found a qb who might be more than a game manager.

I will say, no matter what the score was, that was a great match-up to see. I always hate neutral site games, but it looked good on television. Wish the score would have been at least respectable, but I enjoyed watching if for no other reason than the two teams involved.

I was at our game Saturday night and had a great time.

Arden Key had 2 sacks on pace for his 20 =)
Valentine actually played and was a beast in the 1st quarter. Needs more conditioning, but he was scary when fresh.
Fournette did well despite the o-line being very bad, and had some targets in the passing game which I have been hoping for.
Dural looked great post injury.
Defense overall was really good especially considering how much time they were on the field. Cover that TE and we should be good =)

Positives:
- The reality is that you are never as good as you think you are after 1 week, and in our case you are never as bad as you think you are after 1 week.
- Our defense will be lights out by the end of the year. On the field virtually the entire 1st half (25 of the 30 min), consistently put in horrendous field position by our shitty special teams and a fumble, and they held Wisconsin to 16 points. They even scored a touchdown, so they really gave up a net of 9 points.
- Les HAS to change. If he does then we could still have an SEC title kind of year, and if he doesn't (and I don't suspect he will) then we will be the first team in line to court Tom Herman.

quote:I don't think they have given up. If we have a leader, he better stand up quickly and get this young bunch going. I think South Carolina is a defining game and since they don't really know what they have yet, it is probably the perfect SEC opponent for us to go up against following the USA abortion. If we stick with Williams at quarterback, we are doomed. Even though he was 20-28, he can't complete a pass beyond 10 yards. Our tackling sucks. If we can get past USC, we might could still get to a bowl. If we lose to them, we might be between 2 to 4 wins.

Aggies picked up first downs by running the ball on 3rd and short multiple times in a game, might be a first in the Sumlin era, definitely first time since JFF left. Jim Turner

Positives for Saturday: I got to enjoy my Labor Day weekend by postponing my alcohol fueled melt until Monday night. It's been a long fricking day and I didn't even go into work.

Bring me your positives from Saturday
The sun still shines and Bama has no chance of ever losing another game in the history of college football as long as the great Satan Nick Saban is breathing in the Tuscaloosa air and the other SEC schools are used as practice dummies and LSU never recruits a quarterback who can complete a pass without the aid of a pass interference penalty and Chad Kelly has more turnovers than a Polish bakery in anywhere USA and Arky, Tennessee, South Carolina and Florida look like dog shite in victories (to be fair a win is a win) and Auburn can't score in the middle of a nymphomaniac orgy while all hopped up on Ecstasy and Molly. And Kentucky blows a bigger lead than Ole Piss (well at least Piss lost to a team loaded with talent at every position). Should I go on? Where's the Ocean when you need him? He's gotta be pissing off road tater by this point. Piss on y'all. I'm back and flippin' deal with it.

We had a RB return after a severe neck injury and go for 96 yds. Other than that, not much.

DL played really well, even with Garrett and Hall on the bench.
Pressure and more pressure. Loved it. More willing to blitz because the LBs are playing much better than last year. 5 sacks when UCLA suffered 14 total last year.
Justin Evans. 2 INTS and a game-winning blocked pass. And I don't think he's the best secondary guy A&M has.
Trevor Knight was exactly what was needed. Not spectacular and he had one bonehead mistake, but he was steady and didn't throw the game away, which has been a problem since JFF.
Keith Ford and Trayveon Williams complemented each other's different skills at RB. Neither (nor the two together) are Nick Chubb or Leonard Fournette, but they both played very well, helped out immensely by...
OL was WAY better than at any time last year. Sacks allowed? 0. RS Freshman center Erik McCoy named SEC OL of the week. Despite the "Chalk Talk" debacle, OL coach Jim Turner is the real deal.
New punter Shane Tripucka will make us forget about Kaser-for-Heisman. OK... probably not. But the kid was good.
Ricky Seals-Jones, Christian Kirk, and Josh Reynolds were all very good at WR. That was expected but was still good to see. And they get Speedy Noil back for the next game.
One negative that can't be ignored. UCLA fans warned us about Mazzone late in games. It's too early to know whether that was sour grapes or a real thing, but A&M's play-calling in the 4th was borderline putrid.
