Alabama depth on Dline is concerning

Last year we could go 3 deep and in the 4th qt still be relatively fresh, this year if we have one injury we might be in trouble...Dalvin, Payne, Allen and Hand and that's basically it or am I forgetting someone? What happened? Anyone who thinks this D will be as good as last year is out of their mind imo.

Just have younger guys who are not as proven. They are still the best recruits in the country. When has our defense not been great? Dont be dumb

Josh Frazier should see alot of time and he has the potential to be a great player for us. Then the JUCO kid last name King should also come in and contribute
Also Reakwon Davis is getting alot of hype as a freshman. Without looking it up he is somewhere around 6'7 280lbs

So unproven you didn't even name them in your post. OP has a point. Our Dline should expect a drop off this year.
To be fair though. We should offset pass rush problems with Tim Williams, Ryan Anderson, Rashaan Evans and hopefully Terrel Hall.

We do need to stay healthy on the DL. If they stay healthy this defense could be nasty. We need guys like Frazier, Ball and Smith to give us quality minutes and I think they will. I've heard good things about Ball this camp. It would also help if Davis was cleared, kid is going to be a monster.

I think if the DL stays in-tact injury wise we will be just as good or better.
If the DL breaks down health wise then we could very quickly become a very good pass defense and a pretty good, but not dominant, rush defense.

Tomilson Payne Allen
Hand Frazier (unproven player)
That is 2 deep with 1 unproven player....
We def are not as deep as last year, idk if there has ever been a team as deep as we were at dline last year, but this team will be fine. Will be the fastest defense in the Saban era in my opinion..

Yeah, I don't really buy your concerns. Bama front 7 is stacked and nasty. The only way y'all get knocked off is if a team can keep y'all under 20 points(except maybe Clemson).
This is why I give LSU a decent shot. The over/under on that game will likely be around 40

To "lick chops" about someone's DL you have to have an OL and an offense that wears out DLmen by making them chase... so LSU is not the team to take advantage of a lack of depth.
Alabama defense is more about LBs anyway, but to say we lack depth when four outstanding players, Dalvin, Payne, Allen and Hand, are mentioned is a little "glass half empty." Most coaches would cheat to get four DLs as good as those.

Fishing for compliments thread. Congrats on the insecurity.

I think Payne is badass player but I don't see how Bama fans aren't concerned about losing Reed, A'Shawn and Ragland.

Because we have 3 proven 5 stars replacing them...

With all due respect, hearing any complaints about depth at Alabama doesn't elicit a great deal of sympathy here in Nashville.

There is a reason why Alabama came in at 99 out of 128 schools in returning experience. Returning production figures into that as well which in itself is big. You don't lose the players that y'all did and don't feel that. I know the talent or potential talent is there but it still has to show up. Will it, more than likely it will because of the great recruiting classes year after year.
