we all hope he does well... I think some of us are wise enough to understand there is a down side to putting too much on a young QB. It's pretty clear some folks don't get that, even after ample explanations. Oh well....

Sure there is. I get it. A possible downside. There is risk in everything you do. Everything. There is risk in continuing to start Lambert. There was risk in firing Richt and that risk still exists until Smart proves out.

This actually reminds me a lot of the fire/don't fire Richt argument. Do you stay pat and be content with OK or do you take the risk and say let's go for it with someone we THINK will be better?

It actually reminds me a lot of that argument.

For the record, I wanted Richt gone way before this year. Start the kid. He'll be fine.

I'm right there with you. It reminds me of something that I read in high school:

quote:

If risk-taking were guaranteed, they'd call it 'sure-thing-taking'.

ETA - I can't find the source quote for that, so maybe I made it up. If so, then I'll claim it as my own.

Y'all, stop breathing out of your mouth for a second. This isn't a risk vs conservative argument. It's about making intelligent decisions about the long term development of our young QB who is by all accounts a phenom. There is a reason this has always been done. I realize that y'all know a lot more than anyone else who has ever been involved with football, but again.... Whatever... If he is ready, great... If he isn't and another QB plays, it is because our coaches are being wise.

Here is my thought process on the QBs...

First off the coaches are watching every practice, multiple times, and know these kids better than we ever will. If they think starting Eason gives us a better chance to win, then we have to trust their judgment. There is a reason they are coaching UGA...cause they generally know what the frick they are doing.

Secondly, this is a whole new offensive system. While I do believe Brice and Greyson are more seasoned, I don't for a second believe either one of them know the playbook significantly better than Eason. They have experience...and I give that that is huge, but does it trump ability and playbook knowledge?

Finally, Chubb. I say that because with a healthy Chubb, Eason will not have to win the game by himself. Mix that in with a supposed focused OLine and you have a great little starting point for a QB with no experience.

I trust our coaches because they wanna win the fricking game. Some of you on here act like they are sabotaging their own career.

If you wanna see that...go watch the Bauta experiment last year at Florida. That was literally the game that got Richt fired.

Lets put it this way, if there was anyone left to defend Richt after the Bama blowout and Tenn Comeback, they were def gone by the end of the Florida game.

The Bama blowout.

Yeah the one that Richt stood on the sidelines looking like he ate a bottle of Xanax before kick-off.

Looking back on it, I can't think of another explanation other than that Richt liked the kid and wanted to give him a start cause he knew he was gone. Strategic aspects aside, they then didn't tactically take advantage of his legs. Again, looking back, it was one of the most bizarre and dissapointing things I have ever seen in UGA football.

Barring any official notice I still think Lambert starts. We'll see a ton of Eason either way.

Is it possible Lambert has secured the spot and they're just doing everythign they can this week to give Eason reps so he doesn't shite the bed when he gets in? Absolutely. Everything to this point has been geared to not put the weight of the whole team on Eason's back and mind frick him before he sets foot on the field.

Lambert starts and adds stability while they work Eason into the role. This makes the most sense unless Lambert has actually regressed since last year - rather than improve with another year in the system under his belt (much more likely).

Ramsey holds the clipboard and punts. Book it.

An excerpt from the upcoming book, “The Year Butts-Mehre Burned - An Insider Reflects”....

quote:

People will never believe it, but Richt didn’t know he was going to be fired until the day he was actually fired.

Yes, the GA/FL game was a bizarre turning point and bizarre occurences will always breed conspiracy theories to try and explain them, but most times the real explanation is an obvious one hidden in plain sight.

There was no doubling down to try and save a job or anything like that. The 2015 Georgia florida game was simply the day when mark Richt gloriously lived out his destiny. As had been written in the meme.

Mark Richt finally lost control.

He lost control by breaking the golden rule of leadership and he let the outside noise from the fans and the internal noise from his disfunctional coordinator situation affect his own vision and judgement. He panicked under the weight of the noise and resorted to a radical mongotard move to try and appease ALL of them. At once. To make it go away.

And it blew up in his expressionless face.

The story begins on the Sunday after the 9-6 near meltdown against the miZzzouri SJW’s. After watching the film of Lambert’s fourth gimmie pick being dropped by a shocked defender, Richt went outside with Squat to have a smoke and Pruitt was out there waiting on them drunk holding a crowbar. For a minute, Richt thought…….

Big difference between who they have faced since March?

You are still a few weeks behind. That reasoning was used for fall camp reps, but It's now game week Jefferson. Do you really not understand the diff as it looks? These are game reps. The starter gets the reps. You don't give most of the game reps to the backup Qb.

This was what blew my mind. I mean, Ok fine, you're going to try something different. The offense is spinning its wheels and you're looking for a spark. Oh, but wait. We're going to try the exact same offensive game plan with a decidedly less talented QB at that style of play... wtf Corch?

I'm sure it won't be the last "WTF Georgia" moment I ever see in my lifetime, but hopefully they're fewer and farther between going forward.

I agree with you. Starting Bauta to try something different was fine with me, really. What pissed me off was that they didn't use his legs to make something happen. They stuck a running QB with no real game experience out there and tried to make him pick apart a good defense with his arm. I was shocked at what I saw.

I was a once proud Richt supporter and I finally had no desire to defend the man.

Regardless of what some people say, CKS will have this year to show what his teams are capable of. He won't need to win a National Championship or even the East. He just needs to show he can recruit talent and get them better each week. Starting Eason is a no-brainer as long as he continues to improve.

You don't know who is getting what reps. Other than the 15 minutes the media gets to watch or whatever "insider" info the vacuum cleaner salesmen are feeding you. FOr a fee.

Meanwhile, for those choosing not to live in disney world, there's a press confrence begining in 5 minutes. I doubt Kirby will announce a starter, either way. But, this would be the perfect opportunity for him to do it if he was so inclined. Lambert got announced starter, the monday before last years opener. Stay tuned.
