In 2012, Alabama led the nation in scoring, rushing, and total defense, coming in 7th in passing D. It's impossible to replicate the numbers they put up in 2011, that was an all-time great defense.
2010 is the outlier in all things Alabama and Saban.
A team that returns Eddie Jackson, Tim Williams, Ryan Anderson, Jonathan Allen, Marlon Humphrey, and Minkah Fitzpatrick isn't going to decline greatly. God forbid Tony Brown straightens up, with Reuben Foster and Kendall Sheffield proving capable replacements (no reason to believe otherwise tbh).
The only unit of Bama's team that you can rightfully question at this point is RB.

Their '15 "D" was better and DEEPER. Their numbers don't have to drop greatly for other teams to have a very good chance to beat them.
If the bama "D" just has a few less three and outs that gives the opponents "D" more time to rest, which will make a difference in the fourth quarter.
Last year LSU bama was tied at 10 right before half. tide gets late FG to go up 13-10 at half. Very CLOSE game.
LSU "D" finally wore out in second half because tigers "O" couldn't get first downs and stay on the field.
2010 was saban's fouth year at bama. That was his team through and through.

That game was close only in score LSU was dominated in the first half as well. Henry had 90 yards at half time and LSU was fortunate to be in the game at that point.

Moral Victory U
Not sure I'd call it a moral victory. The two teams have to actually play on the field, after all. No way around that. So either LSU wins and it was expected because they have "more talent" or they lose and they're the team that lost to Bama again even when they had finally had more talent. It's a no-win path to a moral victory, really. Frankly, the emphasis on preseason predictions and analyses amongst fans of the expected contenders seems like something that should be re-evaluated, at least on a message board with fans of other schools who are more than willing to troll you.

LSU fans trying to identify with Bama. What a surprise.

We'd identify A&M with Bama, but

LSUs depth at WR is insane. They just do not have a quarterback and a good enough game plan to get them the ball. I give LSU the edge on WRs

I'm guessing that's one of the biggest concerns for LSU fans. A world-class WR whose QB isn't holding up his end of the deal is almost worthless if the opposing defense stops fearing the quarterback. At least a world-class RB can wrestle the ball away from the QB if necessary.

It's the only way LSU remains relevant is to somehow try to attach themselves to Bama. Even though Bama has won 5 in a row and 3/5 have not been competitive.
Ole Miss, Auburn , Texas A&M have all beaten Bama more recently than LSU. Ole Miss has beaten Bama back to back and even they are not as delusional as LSU fans.
Hopefully after a blowout win in Baton Rouge they can stop with the silly comparisons.
In reality they will probably fire Miles and a new coaching staff will give them a second wind.

So let me get this straight:
You're a Bama fan who created a Vandy fan account to troll LSU fans on the SEC Rant.
Bless your heart, that's the saddest, most pathetic thing I've seen all day. I sincerely hope you find better things to do with your time. This is sad.

Talent is close, on paper. Probably raw talent, speed, strength is similar too.
The problem for LSU is that Alabama's offensive coaching is so far and away better than what LSU can manage. LSU would need a huge talent disparity to make up for it, and unfortunately for them, that disparity is impossible with the way Alabama is recruiting right now.

I won't comment on overall talent, or who will win this year's game, but this is just dumb.
No really. It's dumb. Stop it.

Personally, I'm hoping for the best but going in without any preset expectations for how we'll perform this season.
As a Georgia fan I understand this!
I get the excitement fans have when something positive comes out in the press. But we should all realize that they write stuff to create conversation and get attention. I think the Alabama/LSU game and the Alabama/Tennessee games will be the two most exciting games of the season. I'm looking forward to seeing them both.

Read article twice and didn't see one mention of the '16 recruiting class. Maybe I just missed it.
What did he say about the class?
Well, first. Alabama's classes have been #1 for the last 7 years in a row, so it really doesn't matter which class he was talking about, now does it?

Thank you. I actually try not to troll and be even handed.

Alabama recruited better than LSU last year, and every year prior for several years. Alabama will have more talent as measured by recruiting rankings than every team in the country until Saban leaves, and it will never be close.
This is true. this does not necessarily guarantee wins. Coaching, attitude of team....so many things enter into the equation.

If you look at at the amount of 4 and 5 stars that have gone to Alabama over the past few years as compared to every other team, it's unbelievable that they've lost any games at all.
I've said this on several occasions. Saban is a great coach, but he has made mistakes on many occasions. It happens. That is why i said LSU COULD win the SEC. You have the closest talent to them this year. LSU will have to be ready and keep mistakes to a minimum, and Miles and coaches will have a great game plan prepared and executed. It can most definitely happen.
I was not taking a shot at LSU. I was simply pointing out that the writer was using faulty logic. Thanks for not getting mad!

I agree, these are two of the best games of the year. I would include Ole Miss vs Bama also. Ala fans were not always so arrogant when their coach Shula was losing to LSU and Tenn yearly, Saban was a great hire by them. The talent and coaching at Tenn, Ole Miss and LSU has been elevated with great hires including great assistants by LSU. Bama fans better watch out, or they might get trucked three times over.
